Mine is that I don't like the touchback for the defense on a fumble out of the endzone. I think it should be offense ball at the spot of the funble just like everywhere else on the field when a fumble advances out of bounds.
but college overtime is so much better than sudden death. If the NFL wants to start teams from the 40, that'd be fine. I'd like to see it implemented - maybe try it in preseason games as a test.
I think they need to scale back all the new "protect the QB" rules. I understand there has to be some in place, but it's almost to the point of going to two-hand touch or flag football.
Numbers 50-79 denote anineligible receiver. They TRY to stay consistent on positions wearing certain numbers (i.e. receivers sometimes wear 1-10, or 85-90... those are just examples). But the only rule surrounding numbers is whether or not they can be eligible receivers.
Is ridiculous. Once a guy makes contact, he cant stop himself from taking a QB to the ground, so even though the QB may have had the ball when contact was made, if he gets rid of it, the player is supposed to somehow stop himself mid tackle and keep the QB standing. Ridiculous rule, the Brady no contact below the knees rule was bad enough.
you should be vulnerable to be hit. I do think there needs to be "excess contact" or "illegal contact" rules in place, but good grief, Peyton Manning got a roughing call because someone brushed his helmet with his hand while the defender was moving full speed toward him AND Peyton was moving. How is a defender supposed to pay attention to that moving full speed? It's ridiculous...
of TV running the NFL. After years of going to only college games (good old untelevised State games), I was amazed how much down time went on at an NFL game.
to the leather helmet with no facemask. I think the helmets cause more injury now with spearing than old school leather heads. Also smaller pads. How many serious injuries happen in Rugby? Not nearly as much as in football. I wanna see how much the Terrell Owens of football run their mouth if they have no more facemask and huge pads to protect themselves.
They at least need to review this rule. With the newer type of hands blocking it is inevitable that a linemans hands will touch the facemask of the opposing player. They just need to call it when it is a headslap.
