What Seed in the NCAA Tourny do you think we will be?

I could see a 6 or 7 since, even though we have some ranked teams, there is no respect for the SEC outside of Kentucky. However, an 8 or lower seed is inexcusable at this point with 15 wins already under our belt.

Then get beat by the 12 seed we play, as happens every year.<div>

In typical fashion, no one is giving us any respect. West Virginia is projected as a damn three or four seed, and we were vastly more talented than them.

We will be an interesting team come March. In all likelihood we will be better than our seed says we are, and we have the physical ability to play with any team in the country. We also have the ability to get beat by anyone. However, no one is going to want to play a team with Bost and our post players come tournament time.

We have some tough games to finish out the season. Our last 6 games are @LSU, @AU, Kentucky, @Alabama, @USCe, and Arkansas. We could go anywhere from 5-1 to 2-4 in that stretch, and even if we have 7 losses in the regular season, that could KILL our seeding if we finish that stretch 3-3 or 2-4. Perception and how you finish out the regular season is even bigger when you are a team like State, so finishing that stretch well could easily mean the difference in a 5 seed and an 8 seed.

LSU, SC, and Auburn aren't playing all that well right now. At the worst we should only lose to Alabama, Kentucky, and Arkansas. I'd say the best would be 6-0 ... we get pumped for the Kentucky game, and the Hump will return to it's normal loud self at least for that day. I saw us beat them one time, not too long ago, after going down 21-0. Strange things can happen in the Hump.

If I know one thing, Stans has us ready to play the big games and our fans will be hyped. It's the sleepers I'm worried about... falling to Arkansas at home if we have a bad day, falling to a good defensive LSU team on the road... or even worse, let someone RAT us out at Auburn and lose another heartbreaker there. We haven't won at Auburn since 2008, BTW. That's what I'm worried about. Sleep in one of those games, it could hurt us BAD.

But hang on to a #5 seed, maybe even a 4 depending on what we do up until then. As long as we play UK and Bama close we shouldn't be penalized to terribly for those. Lose one of the other 4 in that last stretch and we will be a 7 or 8 seed.

ETA: I think we finish the year at 24-7, no telling where that gets us seeded though.

..it would be nice if the committe sent us to Nashville in a bracket with Murray State.

But Portland? Why should one of the top SEC teams be punished by being shipped off to the nether-regions of Portland, Oregon? I don't get that one.

Regardless, I would love the Nashville/Murray State scenario.

He usually does a pretty good job of predicting seeds once it gets down to it. His bracketology is not a predictor per say, but more of a "if the tournament started today, where would everyone be".

Either way, we need to be better than a 7 seed. To have a legitimate shot at the Sweet 16, we need to be at least a 6 seed. Although teams prove that wrong some years, you really can't expect for a 7 seed to beat a 2 seed on a normal basis.

assuming we have a good home record, is the difference between a 4 seed and a 10 seed. The SEC is not respected in hoops but our showing against Baylor is helping us right now with the national pundits because they are definitely one of the top 4 teams in the country.
