What type of setup is Yancy running here?

I am now reading that Yancy predicts a clean sweep of the remaining prospects in MS. I can understand Thompson and Sanders as we have been hearing that for awhile now. But, how he can predict that with Robinson and even the OL commited to auburn is puzzling to me. It wasn't long ago when they were trying to get the coach at olive branch run out of town b/c they had NO chance at those players and were pissed. Say we get Robinson or better yet Thompson, does yancy tell his minions that something fishy happened at the last minute and they immediately set up another hotline straight to the ncaa offices? That way he covers his *** at the same time. The problem with the rebels is that you can't tell what is going on with them b/c they are so full of **** by nature that you can't tell when they are being full of **** on purpose. I am truly puzzled by what is going on up there right now. </p>

my house on his predictions. we "could" end up with that list but if our class looked exactly like that i'd me amazed. i will say that on a couple yancy has been saying for weeks that his "sources feel better about our chances than i do" and now he's "predicting" we'll sign a couple. so as an ole miss guy i'm encouraged but i'm not going to any boards to talk recruiting smack.

With Robinson and Coleman, we've had to go around Samsel and get in contact with their parents. It has been far from smooth, but apparently we were able to get to the parents without Samsel's permission.

Our staff basically gave his "rules" the finger, and I think they feel safe doing that with the new regulation that was put in place by DeSoto County schools just this year regarding control of prospective recruits. I think anything can happen with those two depending on how many strings Samsel pulls, but at least we made an effort to open that door without going through Samsel.

I don't know about Yancy's predictions. He's been wooly on Coleman for a while now, to steal a term. I don't know if I see it, but it's recruiting. The next 2+ weeks are going to be entertaining.

The Army AA game reporters almost exclusively said they felt Robinson would end up at Ole Miss in their predictions. That one surprised me, but maybe there is some fire to that smoke. Apparently we've been trying to get Robinson's mom up to visit our campus separately from Robinson. Again, it's recruiting.

The one prediciton that stuck out to me the most was that he predicted we'd sign Giles. I haven't heard much about him wavering from his MSU commit, but Yancy predicted he'd sign with us. That one was the most out of left field to me. The others, while some may be wishful, at least didn't seem as unrealistic or out of left field.

And to add to that...

Yancy sometimes has some solid info.

But during this time of year, he will also throw out some wild ******** that even he doesn't believe (like his prediction of Robinson and Coleman) just to drum up business. People will discuss it and new subscribers will join to hear more. It's the recruiting business. It's what these guys do.

Then after signing day (when he is wrong) he will say things like "I was very confident when I first predicted Coleman to OM, but some shady stuff is happening at Auburn. I'll just leave it at that." That will be his out.

Or as signing day draws near, recruit gurus can use the technique Steve recently used..."The loss of David Turner has really hurt us with Carlos Thompson. I no longer believe we lead." That will be his out.

They always have an out. Occasionally, they say, "I was just wrong."

If "Yancy said so" is the best you can come up with, then just quit, dude. That part of the recruitniks is what the subscribers pay money for - it's the part that you can spin all day long with no reprecussions and need no proof. Do you think Ole Miss going around Samsel to a recruits parents would really end well? Pissing off Samsel in the process? Think about that you damned homer. Giving his "rules" the finger? He would kick up so much of a fuss that the guys would eliminate Ole Miss just to avoid drama.

I can tell you that. I know someone close to the situation that has been involved with the process of trying to re-open the lines of communication between our staff and Samsel...and it failed.

And Samsel is in a tough spot right now with the new DeSoto County rules. He can't be as open as he used to be.

Oh, and pot-kettle on calling me a homer.

Is he calling them silent commits? Saying he "feels" like they are coming, or just calling them leans?

Reason I ask is when Rose is 100% certain he'll pretty much say so, like he did with Wells and Nick Griffin. He said things like "there's no reason to be concerned", used the 100% a few times, etc. More than just the typical "I feel good about so and so" language.

No. He never called them leans or silents.

Posters were clamoring for his predictions. So he listed the class he predicts that will sign with us. Coleman and Robinson were included.

committs. in fact yancy has gotten so much grief over that "private" bs that i haven't seen him use the term recently even on some kids that i know are privates...all he is saying on the two OB guys is that he "thinks" we will sign them at this point. i can tell you the % he has been ascribing to those two aren't all that encouraging. this is the most encouraging he's been on the two OB linemen.

posters over there ask them for their predictions/percentages about 10 times per day. Or at least they do with Steve. Some guy wanted him to do it last night after he'd written about 10 recruit stories.

On Thompson he's never said more than he feels like Thompson is a lean.

Sanders is a little different. I get the feeling he's a little more confident, though I don't recall him coming out and saying Sanders would definitely sign.

I agree.

People worry the **** out of them. Some ask them to go on the record point blank. In a way, it's a no win situation.

They are guessing basically.

as far as rankings go, Ole Miss will be slightly higher. It already is...and the people they are adding late are going to be better than the people we add late.

lets say "surprised" if we don't sign sanders and thompson. that said, its two weeks to signing day and these are teenagers.

edit..supposed to be under the bulldog post.

too much evidence not to. I've already conceded him - I'm hoping we get the tall guy out of Hoover now.

Thompson is a different story. He's the one that will really decide the battle of the recruitniks.

and while i've said i wouldn't be my house (or anything for that matter) i believe there is a very big likelyhood that thompson signs with ole miss. he's not committed..public or private..but from what i read and hear it would be surprising for him to go with msu...
