What was Devin Bell's net effect on the game last night?

1 for 2 on reasonable kicks.
Bad punt leading to Kentucky driving 15 yards for a FG.
Dropped punt for safety.
Line drive kickoff leading to 50 yard TD drive.
We refused to kick a clinching FG because he has no chance at a 45 yarder.

Replace him with an average kicker and we win 34-13.
He was pretty much singlehandedly responsible for a ~15 point swing in the game.

Not trying to defend Devin but, generally speaking, he handles kickoff duties extremely well. All we have to do is remember over the past few years when we regularly kicked to about the 10 yard line (or kicked out of bounds) and gave opposing teams the ball between their 30 and 40 (or worse).

You're right, but that's my point - he's getting worse every game.

Our strategy last night seemed to be to give him *more* touches, perhaps to get him back in a groove? All he did was screw that up miserably while also making mistakes at the only thing he's been good at, kickoffs.
