What Would It Take For You to Have Flood Back Next Year?

If an angel donor came out of the sky and pledged an inordinate amount of money for a complete facilities overhaul, contingent on Flood being extended only three years, I'd consider it. The awfulness of Flood for three more years would be digestible if we had enough money left over at the back end (and top-end facilities) to entice a new coach and Big 10 level recruits.

Don't want him back. He allowed the football team to trash our school this year. We already made the mistake of hiring him to save a recruiting class. You are proposing we repeat that mistake. What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result.

He hasn't gone 1-0 enough times this year for me to consider it. Plus, most weeks he went 0-1 he did so in embarrassing fashion. That, plus the arrests and 3 game suspension are enough for me to say no thank you. Oh and Rashan Gary isn't coming here so it appears the OP won't want him back either.

If Floods wins out vs Army and Maryland there will be a litany of posters who will give us all the reasons in the world for bringing him back. I'm stocking up on popcorn if that happens because there will be some very entertaining threads talking about bringing him back.
I do not want HCKF representing Rutgers and leading the football team in our 250th anniversary year.
Truth is that the kids love Flood where they hated and feared Schiano. Too much of one style nets a negative result on and off the field. I remember the fanbase forgiving and forgetting some of Schiano's losses or failed attempts at changing the offense (wild knight). I remember losing to better coached teams loaded with 2* & 3* talent and most of you do as well. But we always found a way to forgive Schiano because we feared him leaving. Our current coach plays much tougher competition and may finish the season 5-7 but we sit here and pine over a guy who had less than a .500 record played embarrassing out of conference schedules and rarely did better than 7-5. This is why some feel everything being equal coach Flood is not so bad.
We need to move on from Flood and Schiano...

If Flood is retained for another season, something I still think is more likely than not given the RU administration's history, this board's meltdown will be truly epic. We'll shift from standard bipolar mode right into full on psychotic mode.
Despite the fact that I don't think Flood is the right guy for the job and never did, I have to confess that I almost hope they retain him just to have a chance to watch the level of insanity ramp up here as the weeks slip by by without an announcement.
OTOH, it's a pretty good bet that the same drama-queens whose lives will apparently be utterly destroyed if Flood stays will become equally drama-filled by whoever RU winds up hiring to replace him. Which will also be fun to watch.
And if the new coaching staff happens to pick Laviano to start over Rettig and Russo (if he stays committed), then that, combined with this board's better support for retaining old threads and posts, would make for a truly fun time.
Either way, it's a great time to be an observer of human nature.

Ah, but not all of us Rutgers fans are psychotic, unless the very nature of being a fan of this university implies an agitated mental state.
I personally have no interest in melting down if Flood is retained for next season, but will very likely become apathetic to the football program while his tenure continues. This year has marked the first time in ten years that the tailgating is more entertaining and worthwhile to me than actually attending the games. I have still gone to the games, but with little emotion and expectation for success; the meltdown both on and off the field this season has probably caused my defensive human nature to kick in accordingly.
Sure, many fanbases and message posters are prone to discussions with increased levels of emotion and being overly critical of their programs, but doesn't that really just mean that they care? Apathy to me is a way more dangerous phenomenon, and with it can go large portions of fanbases and funding/donations alike.
Agreed on all fronts. If he comes back, I'll survive and focus on my tailgating game. I'll still hope for and root for wins, but my expectations of competing well in the Big Ten will be delayed another season.
