What's a "production car?"

I'm guessing it's a car that is mass produced in a production line rather than custom made but maybe someone can enlighten me. The Tesla P100 D goes from 0 to 60 faster than any "production car." In the link below it beat the Porsche 911 Turbo S. I'm no gearhead but I know Porsche's are supposed to be fast.

I think the idea is that electric cars are inherent faster starting from 0 so no matter how souped up they make a gasoline car it can't match an electric car starting from 0. Of course the souped up gasoline cars still have higher top speeds.

Production car would be vehicles mass produced for use on public highways. The reason electric cars are quicker 0 to 60 is that electric motors produce their torque rating instantaneously, gas engines build maximum torque at a certain rpm.
