It may just be me, but the SEC seems to be going down, but there's still a lot of good football to be had in the conference. But this season seems like it's going to be pretty interesting. I don't plan on going in depth with the rankings as the why's and why not's don't really matter right now to me as it's really just how I see it.

  1. Alabama
  2. LSU
  3. Georgia
  4. USC
  5. Tenn
  6. MSU
  7. Florida
  8. aTm
  9. Mizzou
  10. Auburn
  11. Vandy
  12. Arkansas
  13. Ole Miss
  14. Kentucky

I don't know about that. The SEC is still the best top to bottom. Arkansas had a bad loss tonight- but they also don't really have a coach this year. The National Champ will likely come from the SEC again this year. USC has a shot to beat whoever wins the SEC I think- but I would still have to say that Alabama and LSU are better than the Trojans.

For instance- your two worst teams per your rating won pretty easily over OOC opponents tonight.

I do believe that the SEC often gets the 'rising tide lifts all boats' treatment. I think because we're so top heavy, the middle tier teams end up getting overranked - ala Arkansas. Tenn is better than Ark.

We'll see how UGA and South Car do. Both have impressed me so far this year.

Arkansas is just a trainwreck right now. I do agree that they were overranked- they got where they are because of Petrino who is gone and the voters should have known that with no real head coach, they would likely have some disappointing losses. Maybe not ULM disappointing, but you get what I'm saying. They'll probably be out of the top 25 now. They'll be good again when they actually have a coach unless they just royally screw their coaching search up.

UT and UGA both have good offenses, but I don't know about their defenses. We'll see how it all plays out.

But as it is in today's college landscape- the only people in general that have a chance to win a NC are SEC teams, USC, Texas, Florida State, and Miami when they're not on probation. And maybe Oklahoma. Sorry Notre Dame and Big 10.

Oh, no question...

It's just that to me, it just seems to me that the parity is a lot closer than in recent years. Not saying that the league hasn't been that competitive (which is not the case), it's just that I really do not feel that there are any teams that are that safe right now. Even Alabama or LSU seem to be a little bit more vulnerable than they were the past couple years.

When looking at other conferences, despite some recent losses or bad games for individuals in the league, we're still leaps and bounds above the other conferences at the moment. Maybe, I'm looking at things wrong right now, but that's just how it seems to be coming out of week 2 for me.

No way Ole Miss is better than Kentucky!!! BS! BS! BS!
It's starting already with them being overanked. Won't last long, however, Hook-em Horns!

Arkansas is going to struggle W or W/O Wilson. No defense and a goober for a coach. Tenn gave up 21 to NC state at home while UConn held them to 10 on the road. Just like Ark, let's tap the brakes on Tenn. As bad as Aubie looked, they're better than NC State.

Using your method:

Alabama

LSU
Georgia

USC
MSU

Florida
Tenn
aTm
Mizzou

Ark
Auburn
Vandy

Ole Miss
Kentucky

We'd have to be undefeated...

to be sitting at #5 for that game meaning we beat your precious Tide so you wanna rethink that one?

I'd give you 7. Wilson is a great qb but he will be throwing into one of the best secondary's in the nation. I'm not sure how great their ground game is but out d-line and backs aren't exactly bad.

Doubt it. If we are 8-0 after Bama we'll be ranked #3 at worse, and will move up to 2 after Oregon or USC lose to each other.
#5 means we are 9-1 and beat either LSU or Bama.
If we are 8-2 we are probably ranked around the #14 range, since we possibly won't have a top 25 win
