What's with Syracuse?

This is not a pro or anti 'Cuse thread. And it's not that i care anything about Syracuse, but how have they had the success they've had? Lost to ranked Missouri 9-6, lost to ranked LSU 34-24, won their other two games convincingly. This with consensus poor recruiting the last few+ years, a coaching carousel, true freshman QB now running the show.

Is the HC and staff that good? Did they really recruit talent over the last couple of years? Magic potion?

Plenty of time for the wheels to fall off. Missouri stinks for starters.

I admit they look much better than Rutgers this year.

Uconn lost to Mizzu.

Maybe coaching? Just saying. They have a defense. Their third string QB isn't bad and can throw pass 20 yards or the coach allows him to throw pass 20 yards.

They have an eye for 2 star gems.

Wins vs Rhody, Wake and Central Mich. Lost to LSU by 10 with their 5th string QB. They have alot of good young talent on that team and they are all playing alot as freshman and sophomores. Last 3 or 4 years of classes are alot better than the classes 10 years ago. Keep in mind they had the worse luck of injuries last year and lost their 5th year senior QB for the year again

When Schiano was here, we were dominating the NE in wins and recruiting. Look what happened when that was over, despite the conference upgrade.

We may be lucky to see 3 wins, granted we are in a better conference but Syracuse would likely give TTFP a much better game and beat Wazzu

We now lose recruits to them, and their coach can say we can stick with LSU while they cannot even see the end zone against TTFP.

It is ridiculously sad.

More parity in cfb then you think. Even the elites will struggle at times so it is not surprising that some strong teams will have a few close calls with the have nots. It has always been this way. I remember back in 1980 RU came within one play (punter tackling Derron Cherry from behind) of knocking off Alabama (who was on ~ 33 game winning streak). Then we lost to William and Mary the following week. Don't make too much of a surprising result or two.

I think Wake might be worse than Kansas.

Still Cuse looks ok. They could be good for 6-6 at least (wins over Virginia, USF, and BC or Pitt).

However they haven't played on the road yet. They SHOULD beat USF and UVA away next two weeks, but if they struggle on the road I'll revise my predictions.

Don't get ridiculous. Our class is way better than theira this year. They went 3-9 last year. Recruits don't live and die with each individual year.

Wut? We were a middling team in the BE despite recruiting better than all but WVU. Syracuse does not recruit better than us now.

They suck. They haven't beaten anyone. Kansas would beat Wake Forest.

In fact, the whole acc is a joke besides a couple of above average teams.

Cuse won their very very weak OOC games. Lost by 2 scores to an LSU team that is probably a little over-rated ($EC), and we all know that the Carrier Dome can get loud when the fans want it to. They will probably go to a bowl this year because the ACC is really bad right now.

Forcette ran for nearly 250 in their building. They really shouldn't be claiming any moral victories right now because that is pretty demoralizing.

2016 recruits right now Rutgers is better but signing is Feb.

2015 recruiting class Rutgers is slightly better with 1 4 star recruit but the same number of 3 star recruits.

2014 recruiting class Cuse is slightly better with 1 4 star recruit and the same number of 3 stars recruits.

2013 recruiting class Rutgers is slightly better with 1 4 star recruit and 5 more 3 star recruits but we have a bigger class.

Their last 3 recruiting classes are pretty much the same as Rutgers. We are recruiting like Syracuse.

I watched yesterday's entire game. They started a 5th string QB and lost by 10pts. If Cuse had a good starting QB the beat LSU and in my opinion by more than 10. Their QB made several throwing errors and the defense which kept them in the game eventually tired. They are a good QB away from a significant bowl game.

They are very excited about their True freshman QB. He couldnt play vs LSU because of a concussion. I think they had a chance to win with him.

So the only time Syracuse out ranked us in recruiting was the year of the worst recruiting meltdown in history. Gotcha.

If not sucking as bad as they did last year is hat hanging material, good for them.

I live in CNY and can tell you that there is a lot more excitement this year than there has been for some time. I think their coaching is pretty good and they seem to find some talent that they need.
Clearly, a lot better than in the last few years and definitely better than RU.

First off, Cuse DID NOT PLAY MIZZOU....Secondly, 'Cuse has opened up with 4-straight in that ******** they call home. They:

- beat Rhode Island (FCS)
- beat the MAC's Central Michigan (in OT)
- beat Wake Forest (beat Elon, and BARELY beat Army)
- lost to LSU in a game that, while The Tiger D kept letting up scores, LSU was never going to lose.

...so let's not get too crazy just yet. 5 of the last 8 are now on the road and they're not beating Clemson at home.

Cuse has out recruited RU recently and that's a huge concern.
In the 2015 Class alone there were 6 recruits that choose Cuse over RU ( Sheppard, Pickard, Conway, Ealey, Ellison, Strickland ). It's all on Flood. He must go!

As noted they have been at home and beaten no one.

LSU was winning 34-17 but gave Sewercuse 2 first downs on penalties in the last few minutes foe them to score.

LSU must have had 150yds in penalties.
