Any of y’all here have a Nintendo Switch?

I’ve REALLY had my eye on one and wife may get it for me for Christmas. We have an Xbox one with about 150+ games or so but I’m more into side scrolling/ platform games these days (Mario, smash, Zelda , donkey Kong etc) plus they have awesome titles like Skyrim etc. My sons play Xbox/ Fortnite / COD etc
Wondering if it’s worth the pretty penny? It’s either that or a new 65 inch (we currently have a 55 inch LG but wanting to do a slight upgrade)

What accessories do you need for two kids to be able to play on a Switch? I assume it comes with just one controller.
Switch comes with two little controllers that can either be used on the sides of the screen, like a game Gear, combined in a controller armature to make one big controller, or split off as two controllers. I would buy an extra “full-size” controller or a couple of little controller holders that make them easier to hold.

My son has one. You can get by with just what's in the box plus whatever games you get for 2 to play. The controllers suck though if you are used to a real game system controller.

The two side pieces are the controllers that mount on the screen when you are playing it on the go. They come off the screen and can be used as 2 seperate controllers or mounted to that grip (comes with it) to make one main controller. I would get a second regular controller if 2 people will play all the time.

Something like this.

It won't be wireless though. That will run like $25 to $30 I believe. A wireless one will run like $60. God forbid if you have to replace the little Joy con controllers that hook on the screen. Those are like $70 or $80. You likely need a micro SD card as well to store downloadable games and other content on it. It comes with 32gb of internal storage but some of that is used by the Switch itself. I think some games require a micro SD card to even play them. You can get something like this for like $14 on Amazon.

The size and amount you spend is up to you. I'd get at least a 32gb micro SD card, but the more the merrier. Just get one of the class 10 ultra cards of whatever size you want. It will read and write on the card much faster making the gaming experience much better. There is also a $4 a month fee for Nintendo's version of Xbox Live. I think you can get it for $20 for a year or $35 for a family account for a year.

For 2 players you probably want to get the Mario Kart game and I think the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate game just came out. Skyrim and Zelda are fun 1 player games. My son asked for some new Pokemon game called Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! Those are most of the games my son has or will be getting for Christmas. Probably going to need to expect to spend between $450 to $500 for the system, Nintendo Switch Online, 2 games, micro SD card, and second controller.

By the way, I would take the 65" TV. I don't game on much besides my Xbox One and with that bigger is better. I will need a new TV myself here soon. It runs probably 8+ hours a day and I've had it for probably 4 years. You can see some issues starting to show up where it isn't as bright in parts of the screen as the rest of it. Trying to hold off a little while longer. Hopefully will go up to a 60" or 65" when I do. Seems like the longer you have a tv the more used to the size you get and it makes it feel to small. At least for me it does.

Yeah I’m really wanting a new TV as well. It’s crazy (to me) how they tend to get “cheaper” as the years go on. Even about 4 years ago when I bought the 50+ inch LG we have now thet ran me like $740 and it’s plasma

Now I can get a 65+ inch for even less?? Crazy

There was a deal on Walmart recently for a 55" 4K for $250. It was some generic brand called Sceptre. From my experience, brand names aren't that big of a deal in picture quality unless you are a videophile. Putting them side by side in a store makes a difference, but not really as big of one at home. A lot of the panels are made by the same companies. The cheaper brands usually just have less options and older hardware. I bought two Element 40" ones from Walmart on Black Friday two years ago to go in bedrooms for like $120 each. Both going strong still.

My current main one is a 55" Vizio that I have had for like 5 years (thought it was 4). It did well for a while. We just used it up really quick. When I first got it I was working a different schedule than my wife and so it was basically on for like a minimum of 10 to 12 hours a day at least. At that rate in 5 years it has been used for like 18k to 22k hours or more. I read that LED TV's can last 60k to 100k hours but that seems ridiculously high. That might be what you are paying extra for with the expensive brands. A much longer life to go with the better internal hardware.

Just looked and that Sceptre 55" 4Kis $229.99. that is insane how much they've dropped. A 65" of that brand is only $429.99. It has gotten pretty good ratings as well with 4+ stars out of 5. My Vizio 55" was like $600 5 years ago. I can buy 2 of the Sceptre brand for less than that.

Picked up the LaserMax made specifically for the SR-22 when the price dropped to $60 last month. Haven't used it yet, but it looks like fun.

I'm collecting Jackie Gleason records atm. It's the only 'jazz' I can really tolerate. His Christmas album is fantastic.

As I get more blind by the day, I find playing on a 32-36" that is 2-3 feet from my face (wall-mounted above a desk) is the most immersive setup for gaming. I never find myself wanting more screen. Make it 4K and you've really got something. 2cents.

Great thread. I collect long rifles, carbines and firearms and have this very rare 1917 German Luger in mint condition. What makes it interesting is I also have the Orders allowing the private to bring it back to America after he captured it from a German Colonel. To make it even better the name and address of the German is on the inside of the holster and the serial numbers for the pistol and magazine match. Here she is. The Colonel had it in WWI and WWII

That’s very damn cool.

I just got a new shield 9mm because it was too cheap to pass up.

Was gonna splurge on a sig365 but I like handguns that work :) .....jk, that seems like a lil gun competitors will have a hard time matching.

If you need more mags, Academy sports has 10rd 365 mags for 29.99 https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/si...luger-10-round-magazine#repChildCatid=5567002

Auto. Majority of Vetts are Auto now plus are faster than Manual. Was torn because I like shifting gears and think high powered sports cars should have them but decided to get Auto. So far, haven’t regretted it. Can switch gears with the switches on the steering wheel but never use them.
I had a Vette with shift buttons on the steering wheel. Loved it. Used it a lot.

My turntable stereo system has been gathering dust since the mid '80s. A few months ago, I decided to revisit vinyl albums. So I bought a U-Turn Audio Orbit turntable. Then I replaced my old speakers with a three-piece Polk Audio set of bookshelf speakers and a 50-watt sub. Then, I replaced the old Realistic stereo receiver with a Yamaha receiver. Then started buying some decent quality albums. Lots of fun. I especially like Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and Miles Davis' "Kinda Blue." And several of the remastered Beatles albums.

Get yourself one of these. They are cheap, but really, really good for the money. It will blow the internal pre-amp in the Orbit completely out of the water. I have some pre-amps that cost up into the $1000s that don't sound as deep and wide as the Mani.

Its only flaw is that it can bea bit susceptible to RF signals, but good interconnects and ferrite beads will cure that if it presents.

Good luck with that. My AD kindly laughed at me when I asked if I could get one that comes in...and I have purchased three Rolex watches from them.

The secondary market is already at $22-25K. And those listing are selling quick. Essentially a new SS GMT is going for the price of a white gold GMT.
Well it took two years @AlbanyWildCat but got my Pepsi about a month ago, love it. Have a pretty good relationship with my AD to the point I consider us friends (in a business sense at least)....plus have bought a lot from him and sent some deals his way. Paid off. Had the option on a couple other rares but this is what I’ve wanted for a while.

Now on to the quest for a 16610LV/116610LV/white dial Daytona down the road....

@Get Bucket$ did you ever settle on one? Would love to know.

He’s talking secondary/gray market, not new retail price from an authorized dealer which is less. The issue is the numbers produced of this particular watch are extremely low and and very very hard to get from an AD....hence the secondary prices. I’m a total nerd for this stuff.
