UK's path out of the cycle of fighting with Vandy to avoid being at the perpetual bottom is to find a very good coach. James Franklins aren't easy to find so paying big for an established "good" coach is the other way. Some programs are so big that the programs attract the players. It takes decades to build that sort of reputation so UK's best option, I think, is to identify, get and retain that great coach. CMS's reputation isn't gaining steam and next year's schedule will make next year a tough one for clearly identifiable progress. I think that CMS will be on the hot seat next year.
Florida and Tennessee are back on track and Mizzou and South Carolina won't be down long. Even Vandy's confidence is starting to build and they are doing it through Derek Mason's established reputation as a top-drawer defensive coach. Vandy will develop an average offense and through consistently having an upper-tier SEC defense will avoid the bottom. UK needs better coaching to avoid the bottom.
