What is crazy is that Auburn was unranked when we played them to the wire (and should have won) but now they are ranked 11th in the AP yet we still hear the ole "Mullen can't compete win top 20 teams" argument.

What was the final score of that game?

I said "compete" not "beat". We have seen it a million times on here that Mullen does not compete with top teams.

Of course it really makes no difference because someone will move the goalpost once Mullen does beat a top 20 team.

Auburn's not the 11th best team in the country. And Missouri definitely isn't the 5th best. The voters just think the SEC has to have several top-10-15 caliber teams. But right now the SEC really only has 1 legitimate top-12 team. And a whole lot of teams in the 15-30 range.

I am not a frequent poster but I don't see how anybody could say he hasn't competed w/ a top 20 team. That's just not reality. Who makes this case? Or could you be inventing a "position" just to tear it down?

What is reality is we haven't actually beat one, and there's about a 98% chance that continues until... when, exactly?

I agree that Auburn is not the 11th best team in the country-in fact, I'm not sure they are in the top 20. But Malzahn is a good coach, and he knows how to win with the talent he has. If they would have called that horse collar tackle on Manziel at the end like they should have, Auburn would have probably lost that game to A&M.

Do what? If the voters say they are then they are until proven otherwise.

In replays it appeared it was only jersey being held, no shoulder pad.

Plus I think most would have to admit that Auburn is a much better team today than they were when we played them a few weeks ago. Kind of like the year Cam Newton was there and we “almost beat” them then by the end of the year they were kicking everybody’s asses.

How would the game go if we played them today? Auburn has improved a lot...I’m not sure we have. At least we haven’t shown it consistently from week to week.

You said: we still hear the ole "Mullen can't compete win top 20 teams" argument.

Looks like you had the winning part on your mind, since that's the argument that is made most often, but since it didn't fit what you wanted to post you tried to change it to compete.

Either that or you typed win instead of with, which would be the convenient excuse to make in this case.

WE can't argue the "can't beat" discussion so now we're resorting to changing the argument to "can't compete". We compete just about every week, what we don't do is win.

-Not a member of the Dan must go club just thought I'd point out the obvious tactic being used.

There's a difference between playing 3 qtrs with a top 20 team and playing 4 qtrs.
