I have no clue about schools outbidding each other for recruits except for the fact that people claim it happens, and it probably does for certain recruits. I do know that Cam Newton is going to be a playmaker the minute he steps on the football field, and getting a good QB that fits your system with college experience is a lot bigger of a deal than getting a player at a position where we already have playmakers for next season. That's not to say Thompson going to Ole Miss doesn't suck because he is going to be a freak, it's just that we need a player like Cam Newton very badly. Also, CN teased the 17 out of us.
