And frankly Selmon’s performance over the last year compared to before has been night and day. Lebby doing better helps, but the baseball hire was huge. Gameday ops sound better than anything in years past. He got the lights. Communication and media have improved. Good year for him
Yeah, he’s making a lot of us (myself included) look dumb. Thank god

I honestly don’t think he was ever bad. But the fruits of his labor are starting to show.

He's doing a good job this year. But for a missed almost chip shot FG (and a little bit of strange snap involved there), we'd be 5-0 and Tennessee would be 3-2.

Our upcoming schedule is a tough row to hoe, and will be in future years, but he's doing as good a job as any other coach would do.

Tennessee fans talked about how our game day environment in the stadium was head and shoulders above anything they have ever had there. It is much improved.

I agree, though in year one he wasn’t visible/communicative enough. That was the big area where he’s clearly done better. Also the ops improvement on game day is good to see

I think the first 6 months he just did a lot of observing what was going on to actually make an informed decision on what needed to change rather than just coming in guns blazing making knee jerk reactions.

I think the whole athletic program is headed in the right direction. That’s good. However, when things turn around at State, that’s when the rich schools show up and cast ‘boo-koo’ cash at our staff (see mf-ers at Florida for reference).

I mean look at the entire SEC right now. There is parity everywhere. We could play the best team in the conference toe to toe on a neutral field right now without Lebby having time to build a full 4 year roster. If we win the boosters will pony up enough to make a run. The expectations here are low enough to have a job for life for just being above average. There are worse ways to make millions every year. I understand wanting to go to a blue blood to up your chances of winning it all, but with the way parity is now it’s a much bigger risk to go somewhere with outrageous expectations without the benefit of being able to stockpile 5 stars like you could in the past. Our job is much more attractive because of that than it used to be, IMO.

Which is shocking because he was a lineman. Gives me a little pause.

Not all that surprising. That’s where games are won and lost. Every elite team prioritizes both positions every year. And they want 7-8 elite guys on each line at minimum. And they pay big $ for them.

Where do you stand on Lebby as of today?
I truly believed that his decision to keep Hutzler would cost him his job, can't tell you how utterly amazed I am in where we are. Believe there will be some bad days this season for that group just due to depth and injuries, but the result so far this year is something I never saw coming

There’s going to be ebbs and flows. Croom even got to 7-5. And before you say he did it year 4 vs 2 for Lebby, we have the portal now. Things go faster.

I’m not convinced we aren’t riding some emotion with an easier schedule and some good fortune in that ASU game. I think we will know a lot more Saturday. Come out and play competitively, I’ll start believing. Don’t even have to win.

We’ve been pretty high for 3-4 weeks in a row. Lebby seems pretty consistent so we will see.

The line this week being 14 surprised me a little bit. Lebby has been good at covering spreads. He kept the team playing hard last year when it would have been easy to lose them. This week will be a tough task to get them not to feel sorry for themselves. His press conference today was more animated than usual. I think he is fighting against people telling them how good they played in a loss and an easy let down spot.

Do you think he isn't recruiting OL? I'm pretty sure he's tried to get better quality OL and DL but short of kidnapping them and forcing them to play i'm not sure what he can do if they choose somewhere else to play. I'm hoping the improved play will show those on the fence that they can come here and succeed.

I'm thrilled with the season so far. BUT what if we go 0-8 again? He would be 0-16 in the SEC . I really like him but at the end of the day this is a results business. We need to win 1 or 2 this year to make me go all in. I'm totally behind him right now though.

The consistency started last year towards the end of the season. I thought we improved all through the year last year and played really well in the egg bowl.

The chances of us going 0-8 are very slim, odds wise. Unless we have even more injuries I just don’t see us going winless. That would obviously change the conversation but it’s way more likely to me that we are going to be trying to hang on to him than trying to worry about his buyout to fire him.

If injuries haven’t totally ruined our season after Saturday, the team I saw all of September is winning in Gainesville and in Fayetteville and will have a chance to pick off somebody else.

Arkansas just named Chris Wilson the DC. That is not going to end well. We should beat them. There is no telling what Florida will look like in 3 weeks. Hopefully they will have laid down and people start taking redshirts if they haven’t already. We are good enough to beat or lose to anyone on the schedule.

I agree to an extent. We never had much chance of beating anybody last year even on our best day, but I never questioned the effort and thought we had some nice moments offensively. I seriously thought after Shapen got hurt against Florida we were about to lose every game 63-3.

The biggest compliment I can give Lebby is his teams are resilient as all get out. It takes a lot to phase them. Even on Saturday, I thought the fumble TD was going to sink us immediately, and all we did was go on a quick 10-0 run to take the lead back.

Conventional wisdom says the A&M game is a major letdown spot for us that could end very badly given our health status. That may still be true. But I also think you can’t totally rule out this team giving A&M fits and making it real interesting.

I’ll be honest. I looked at the guy beside me Saturday after the pick 6 and said we are about to get the hell beat out of us now. Lebby has them fighting and scratching no matter what. That was a game that in past years we would lose 42-17, no matter the coach. Particularly with the DL pressure they were getting.
