Where did the 17'ing downvote button go?

I log in and try to catch up on last evening's events, and there are just way too damn many idiotic comments that I can't respond to because the threads are locked.

Wouldn't it be better if the idiots posting idiotic comments got publicly thumbs-downed so much that they might finally get embarrassed enough to stop posting idiotic things?

(*I know it is a pipe dream that some of them would stop posting, but at least I could properly register my righteous indignation the morning after.)

Why read a thread that has been locked, and you can't post in? It's usually political and you have the same poster posting the same stuff never changing someone's minds.

I highly recommend the Block or the Ignore button for those type posters, here is one of my favorite uses of it

View attachment 1178517
Oh I use the ignore brotha... but only for serious headache-inducing, blood-boiling posters. Sometimes it's necessary to downvote people I actually agree with once in a while too. Like you and your terrible beaver nugget take, for example.**

they enabled it but it broke all on3 forums so they rolled it back

it's going to take @dawgstudent to sell all 20 of his 105 inch plasma 8K TV's to get enough money to get it back

I cannot downvote this enough. "Ignore" is for the weak. If you dont like something, dont read it...or read it and move on.

I think the down vote is kind of lame, too, though, because it gets misused. You should be required to explain your reason for a downvote.

What’s entertaining as a mod I can see who has who blocked. Some are quite long. Some have so many blocked I don’t know how they read the board.

I'm pretty tolerant of most, I think he's the only one I block. Yall could charge me for blocking him though and it would still be worth it.

I don’t know if he even reads the board anymore but Dawg61 has literally everyone blocked. I’m not kidding. It’s at least 50 people.

If you block all of his posts, you will miss a lot of laughs.
A bunch of people on here have been outraged this decade because trans athletes are participating as a different sex than how they were born.

So a trans athlete is participating as the sex they were born, and that also isn't acceptable.

I laugh at absurdity and that outrage is peak absurdism. It's why I don't block dummy people- their outrage is too entertaining.

The absolute worst thing about the new board format. No upvote/downvote hilarious and ridiculous words at the bottom of every post. The contest is a joke if no button is there and we don't get to see the winners clever poetry all week.

Complaints about competing not as the sex assigned at birth.
Complaints about competing as the sex assigned at birth.

There is no other option, besides not competing at all.
...is that what you and others want?
If so, it'd be absurd. That is so absurd, I didn't consider it yesterday when I responded in the other thread.

Reading the thoughts and rants of idiots has been a big part of why I've logged into the place most every day for the last 2+ decades.

How do I check to see if I've blocked anyone? I want to see if anyone ever put me over the edge.

I'm a proponent of using the block list, but I do wish it were for replies and not whole threads - occasionally, I miss a good one.

What my I ask is the difference in me ignoring him with an automatic filter button, and your suggestion of "don't read it" ?

Are you against automation or something?
The difference is maturity. And the fact you might actually miss something worth reading.

But, I am with you on the ignore feature. Pretty sure I've only ignored one poster; Good Will Bunting.
"Explaining your downvote" may be overboard, but the problem with down votes is some people just throw them around automatically for certain posters, or if names of certain celebrities are used in a positive or negative light.

Downvotes should be reserved for substantive disagreement.

I guess there is no established right to message board account privacy, but it still seems more than a little 17ed up to have a mod so freely offer up someone's account setting.

Who is outraged or upset over the trans Swedish skier? I haven't seen anything of that sort.
