Where does the real problem lie

If you really want a comparison of teams in the SEC and UK,look no further than Vandy,a team that has not matched UK in recruiting rankings but in the past three years have beat Stoops twice and that should never have happened i we are to believe that Stoops and company are all we thought they would be when they took the job.

Their depth and strength of upper classes are the difference.
2011 (redshirted Sr's) UK #62, Vandy #71
2012 (Sr class) UK #63, Vandy #29
2013 (Jr. class) UK #29, Vandy #19
2014 (Sophs) UK #17, Vandy #49
2015 (frosh) UK #35, Vandy #48

average class position in time span = UK #41, Vandy #43

Given what @WildcatofNati pointed out with UK's defections, losses and misses in those same early classes, it's not that hard to understand. That will shift in the next 2 years for UK's favor. Now, if you want to argue what Franklin did to UK with what he had to work with, I'll buy that, but you're talking about a once in a lifetime hire that nobody saw going the way it did and is exactly why Franklin is at a blue blood school right now. I'm not willing to hold my breath that UK will be so lucky.

I need to see where we stand after next month and after the end of the school year what happens with attrition in the offseason before you can make a determination on that... You surely cannot deny that there was a lot of discontent and turmoil on this team during the season this year
It would have to be a complete disaster of an off-season before the attrition starts to compare to the classes from 2010 to 2012. I would be most concerned if we start to lose contributors, or guys who were seriously expected to contribute in the future. We did lose Towles, but that's to be expected. It would be almost unheard of for a NFL prospect at the QB position (and he is still ranked in almost every draft site I have seen) to return for a senior year where he's not likely to be the starter.

What will you say if he ends up at WKU and is highly successful there

Interesting interview of Landon Young on the HOB...I will not divulge the entire article, but Landon questioned some of the players attitudes on the team this year. When a high school recruit sees it, it is problem. I think this is where the problem lies and I expect to see more players exiting the program during the winter break. They either need to get with the program or hit the road!!!

Honestly, I think the real problem is that the assistants and the players don't have a defined goal.

I don't think that Stoops knows exactly WHAT he wants to do.

That is why we are so disorganized.

Stoops doesn't have a system that he's committed to and his assistants are left with uncertainty about what's expected of them.

The only way that any business or team can succeed is when everyone pushes in the same direction toward a common goal.

That's why a head coach can make such a quick and dramatic difference.

I believe that in his heart, Stoops wants to play a conservative style that IMO requires much more talent and physicality on the LOS, while the fans and Barnhardt are more realistic about needing to utilize different schemes and spreading the field to offset our lack of talent.

Stoops is just coaching the way he knows and I don't think he's ever been at such a talent disadvantage before.

Yes, I know that our talent is better, but it's not top level SEC talent and without a defined goal, everyone is a step slow.

Hal Mumme was crazy, and he ignored the defense, but he did understand that he'd never be able to line up and smash other SEC team on the LOS.

Mumme taught marginal linemen to pass block in a very short time and after the defense was off balance, he'd hit you with the run.

Anyways, like I said, I don't think that Stoops is committed to anything specifically and until he is, we're going to struggle.

Just the plain simple truth of the matter...I think MS means well , but it just isn't there for him

I think that would be a possibility and would not shock me. He could go to any team that had good offensive line and receivers and be successful. This past year was frustrating with all the momentum stoppers and dropped passes. He would have been successful at UK next year had he stayed. The kid has talent.

I think Barker was inserted into lineup hoping it would spark the team and he did a good job, but the QB position was not the problem. It takes only one player to miss his assignment to screw up a play which happened far too many times this season. It is a sport that requires team work and every one on same page. Correcting our mistakes will be the main priority next season, coaches included. jmho
