When UM lost to LSU they went from #3 to #4

I'm hoping the committee still has us in the top four..

Anything past #4 would be BS. TCU, Baylor or OSU don't deserve to pass us. Of course deserve's got nothing to do with it.

Yea I forgot about that.. We could just drop to 3 then.

There is no way we will be 3rd. 4th is optimistic, we could fall as far as 6th. But 4th this week on a limb that the committee could cut out from under us if we struggle with Vandy. The wins over A&M, Aub, and LSU have all lost their luster. They (the committee) desperately need OSU in our place.

Can't help but agree with this.

If we do happen to be at 4, or less, only one thing to do,

Just Win Baby! That is more than we can ask for.

(my opinion)

4th is the safe bet. But don't rule out 3rd.

Oregon was ahead of FSU last week and our resume is on par with or better than UO's even after a loss.

The Noles didn't do anything to improve their stock and continue to unimpress everyone. We may be ahead of them.

We won't fall to 6th. We'll be ranked either 4th or 5th, most likely 4th.

This shows you don't have a clue what the committee is doing. They're picking the top 4 teams. Not the top teams from 4 conferences. There's a BIG difference.

This shows you don't have a clue about politics. But, it's all gonna play out in the next few weeks.

Not so sure...

If you go by ap rankings, Oregon has beat #10 Michigan st, #11 ucla, and #20 Utah. We've beat #16 auburn.

Auburn, lsu, and aTm really hurt us losing yesterday

I would love for Auburn to play Michigan State, LSU to play UCLA, and for A&M to play Utah. The entire thing is garbage.

I just hope the committee looks at things like the whole sec west (ark will win 1 more) is bowl eligible and the sec west is undefeated in OOC

We will be 5. This way the committee leaves themselves an out if we win the next 2, but look unimpressive. They can move us up 1 and justify doing it later if they want to.

The committee has to take into account the way the SEC has cannibalized itself (this year especially). You cannot play a bad game and survive against an average SEC opponent. Ohio State's loss to a horrible virginia tech team should come back to haunt them even if they win their conference.

And isn't he here a chance Wisconsin goes to the big 10 championship game? After losing to a middle of the pack sec team.

Wisconsin winning big 10 would be big for us. It would eliminate Ohio st and make our lsu win more impressive

I think we'll be #4. We could easily argue that we should be #3 since our loss is "better" than Oregon's, but I don't think the politics of the situation will allow that. Plus, our loss is more recent.

Oregon lost to Arizona, who has 2 losses and is now out of the playoff picture. Arizona lost the only two games of significance that they played (USC and UCLA). The rest of their schedule is patsy. Alabama, on the other hand, has played a tough SEC West schedule, as have we, and only lost to a pretty tough Bear team (of course, they almost lost two more games, but didn't).

Oregon will be #1 or 2 this week. I'm not saying they should be, but they will be. We are in a battle with tcu/Baylor/Ohio state

5th or 6th. We suddenly don't have a great win. Our "three top 10 teams" now have 11 losses between them.

If the various post-weekend media columns are any indication...

we'll be 5th or 6th.

There were a few columnists who almost seemed gleeful that we lost and who were apparently looking for any reason to move us down. As others have mentioned, Auburn, A&M and LSU all losing certainly didn't help matters but those three losing also gives people a chance to rail on our non-conference schedule.

Our lousy non-conference schedule is going to really hurt us.

Now that all of our "top 10" wins have turned out to be wins over mediocre teams. The committee sent a message to Baylor about their horrible non-conference schedule by having them 7th last week and I think they'll send a message to us as well, because our non-con schedule is almost as bad as Baylor's. And the argument that "well our conference schedule is so tough that it doesn't matter about non-conference" is going away because after LSU and A&M drop out of the top 25 on Tuesday, we will only have ONE win over a team that is currently ranked. I'm afraid we're going to fall to at least 5th and the only way we get back up in the top 4 is if the teams around us lose another game and we win out. We really need FSU to lose a game, TCU to lose to Texas and Oregon to lose in the PAC 12 title game. Without those results, it's going to be hard for us to crack the top 4 thanks to our non-conference schedule being so bad.

Pat Forde still has us #4 and playing Bama #1

we'll be 5th or 6th.

For what that's worth. Would love that scenario.

#5 behind TCU thanks to Aub, LSU, and A&M all losing. If 1 of them wins I think we're 4th. It's that close. If you stack up our resume with TCU they're really similar. Their loss was a bit closer at #6 vs at #2. Their top 4 wins are #12, #23, #30 and at #31. Ours are #16, at #30, #33, and #34. After that neither of us have anything of note. Those are all AP ranks. I think the committee will put them over us this week, but if we beat OM we will jump them. We would be SEC West champs in the same way that they may be Big 12 champs. Frankly that's just as impressive if not more.
