I see a 2-seed in March with this team, with a possible #1 if The Mississippi State University can handle Kentucky in January.

if the Spiders had beaten W&M, I might say we should be 8-1. But since they lost, we should be 9-0 and in the top 15 (no 17'n excuse for Rider, especially at the Hump). Starting slow is a Stans trademark. He's done a hell of a job in the SEC, but this "pre-season" BS is killing our seeding in the NCAA tournament. I'm not advocating getting rid of him, simply stating (in my opinion) a fact.

I'm not advocating we off him either, but I am saying expectations with a time line should be made.

Tell me what your preseason expectations were last season. Did you predict an NCAA bid and an SEC Tournament title along with wins at Kentucky and Arkansas from a team that just lost 2 first team All SEC players (Gordon and Rhodes) and had three new starters?

over a basketball game. We're 7-2 and plenty of overreacting. If we were 9-0, there would also be plenty of overreacting in the other direction. Basketball is an entirely different animal and there's no reason to go apeshit either way in December.

most of us expect to do pretty well in the SEC because most of SEC is not very good, especially the SECW. In order to get a higher seed in the NCAAT and have a shot to make it to the Sweet 16 we need to beat Rider and Richmond. Those losses cost a team in March. It's that simple. If we were 9-0 I'd feel pretty freakin' good, as it is, I am not too disappointed.

But to begin a thread of who should replace Stans over that is insane. Those out there know who you are. And I've got news. Stans could probably 7-and whatever from here on and be back. And he has certainly earned it, and for the record, I'm as pissed as anybody at how we underachieved in the Dance with some pretty good teams.</p>

"He didn't have his team ready to play at the start of the season." Maybe Stans is one of those coaches that believes guys sometimes need to try their way and fail so that they'll see that they need to listen to the coaches. That way, in January, February, and March, guys aren't trying to do their own thing. I watched Stans' interactions with the players in the early games. Especially with Dee, he would try to tell him something, Dee would go right back out and do something stupid. Stans would sit down, let him blow a couple of possessions, then go point out the issue during the timeout. Now, Dee is making great decisions and really dictating pace. He just had to learn it the hard way.

It will all be ok, we are thumping people now and are only going to get better. And don't forget about the early season injuries that were nagging certain players. Everyone is definitely finding their stroke now. Ever think that it's the players that weren't getting themselves ready to play in the off-season that could be the problem? We were never going to go undefeated. Two losses is OK. Although it cost us a ranking, my guess is that we are going to start climbing back in starting with this weeks poll.
