Which game is the key to our season next year?

It's week 2 at Auburn. Outside of UM, it's our best shot at a victory over a Western Division team. And lets face it, we're not going to beat LSU so we need that Auburn game to get off to a good start.

I think we have a great shot at beating them this year. They have lost their bread and butter on defense (Peterson on Defense). Plus, we have them at home this year. Last time that happened, we were an interception, a poorly covered punt return for a td, or six inches away from beating them (take your pick on any of those 3 choices). <div>
</div><div>I actually may be in the minority in this, but I think South Carolina is our toughest contest this year. The fact that they have Garcia (even though he is suspended, I would bet he will be back by our game) and Lattimore, that presents a very tough challenge for our defense, particularly our linebackers. Also, their defense is the toughest in the SEC when they want to be (that is either hit or miss). </div><div>
</div><div>*Edit* Jefferson will be back next year... for some reason I thought he was a Senior. </div>

to win at least two from AU, LSU, UGA, and South Carolina. Any two will be ok, although if we beat both AU and LSU, losing to UGA and USC will seem a little disappointing.

But the games that will determine our season are:
at Auburn
at Georgia
South Carolina
at Arkansas

We have 6 wins and 2 losses in the other games, although I wouldn't totally rule out an upset agaisnt LSU or Bama. But those games are the difference between 6-6 and 10-2. I think we split them to repeat at 8-4.

ALL OF THEM!!! Lets try putting together multiple winning seasons before we start focusing on one or two or three games against traditional powerhouses. The one that matters most right now is Memphis. Lose that game and the fallout that ensues will be insermountable.

I just want to beat LSU and Arky. I'm sick<span style="text-decoration:underline"></span> of losing to them pretty much every year.

We are fans, we don't have to constrict ourselves to focusing on the Memphis game. Whether or not I focus on the Memphis game will have ZERO affect on the outcome. Fans will speculate and predict. It's the reason why message boards exist.

I'm going to make a bold prediction and say we beat a severly undermanned Auburn team. They only have 46 scholarship players this Spring and lost Cam, Fairley, Darvin Adams, andthe entire starting O-Line... and will have the NC hangover. I think we get the win at Auburn. Now if we can beat LSU, and it's a rare event that it happens, we could easily start the year out at 9-0. which could set up an excellent locale for 'College Game Day' for the Nov 12th State/Bama game. That would be awesome, but if we don't beat LSU it'll be another year gone without CGD.

LSU. I am so 17ing sick of losing to those drunk corndogs!!! Then in order of preferred victory for me (I am rooting for 14-0). #2 Alabama #3 Auburn #4 Arkansas #5 SCarolina #6 Georgia #7 OM #8 UK #9 Memphis #10-12 are the 3 I can't remember. Yes I put Ole Miss #7 simply because the first 6 have been better football teams and all 6 ahead of Ole Miss will probably be favored preseason to be better than State.

get through Auburn with a W....the LSU game will be the biggest. so in short the LSU game. They always beat our *** so I am not counting on that one. I would love to take 3-0 going into the La Tech game and roll the dice for the rest of it. We should be there in the 4th qtr of Georgia and CockU so those are just SECtoss upsthat could go either way. I would for sure take 3-0 with wins over AU/LSU and whatever else happens....happens.

I feel like every single conference game is a toss-up to at least some degree since our two toughest opponents are at home. So, it's difficult to declare a game as the key game, but starting off on the right foot will be key. If we lose to Auburn, then we'll be staring at the real possibility of starting off 0-4 in the conference since we'll probably be underdogs in our next three conference games.<div>
</div><div>Last year kinda made me question the whole "key game" thing though. I (and most everyone else too, I think) was convinced it was Auburn last year, too, and despite losing that one in rather heart-breaking fashion, we still went on to have a successful season.</div>

SEC schedule difficulty is as follows (Making the bold assumption we sweep the non-conference)

bears
@UK
@auburn
@UGA
USC
LSU
Bama
@Ark

Pretty daunting schedule.
At the very least, we beat the easiest 2 there in ole miss and UK. win those and we have a D season.

Next tier of games is Auburn, UGA, and USC. we take 2 out of those 3 for a C+, all 3 for a B-. All games winable.

Then the big boy games. LSU is that swing game. Win that, and we're in great season territory. Bama seems unlikely even at home, and @Ark could be horrible, They will run and pass all over us, plus it's at home.
