The talking heads all seem to think a "Plus One" of some kind will be instituted by the 2014 season, but there's a lot of different proposals out there.<div>
</div><div>One game after the Bowls</div><div>This is the only one the Big 10 is likely to consent to. Teams go to their traditional BCS Bowl locations, and after that, the final BCS standings come out and the top 2 go. In some years when it's possible, de facto semifinals might be set up informally -- I'm sure this year they'd do every thing they could to have Alabama be Oklahoma State's Fiesta Bowl opponent. Last year, TCU would have probably been sent to the Sugar Bowl. It wouldn't always be able to be 1-4 and 2-3, and some years it wouldn't work out at all (like if the top 4 are the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, and ACC champions), but it would maintain more tradition and still give more opportunity for teams to play their way to a title than the current system.</div><div>
</div><div>Top 4 Seeded by BCS Rankings</div><div>Pretty straightforward. 1 LSU vs. 4 Stanford and 2 Alabama vs. 3 Oklahoma State, all at varying BCS bowl sites. The BCS formula might come under further scrutiny.</div><div>Last year, it would have been 1 Auburn vs. 4 Stanford and 2 Oregon vs. 3 TCU.</div><div>
</div><div>Top 4 Selected and Seeded by Committee</div><div>Every single NCAA sport, including lower division football, selects and seeds teams for the championship by committee, so FBS football could do the same. It's possible that the committee would select Oregon instead of Stanford, since Oregon won handily in Palo Alto, won the conference, and only has an extra loss because it played a tough non-conference game. It would be hard to avoid a rematch this year (1 LSU vs. 4 Oregon and 2 Alabama vs. 3 Oklahoma State), but most years this wouldn't be a problem.</div><div>Last year, I think Wisconsin would have gotten the 4 seed instead of Stanford had a committee selected the teams.</div><div>
</div><div><div>Top 4 Seeded by BCS Rankings - Conference Champions only</div><div>Many people think that a team shouldn't be able to play for a national title without winning its conference, so the Plus One could have that requirement. (Presumably Independents would be allowed to play as well.) It would also make rematches less likely. 1 LSU vs. 4 Wisconsin and 2 Oklahoma State vs 3 Oregon.</div></div><div>
</div><div>Top 4 Selected and Seeded by Committee- Conference Champions only</div><div>Also, the conference-champions-only Plus One could be selected by a committee instead of rankings. This year, there's really no plausible bracket than1 LSU vs. 4 Wisconsin and 2 Oklahoma State vs 3 Oregon either way.</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>Which one do you prefer? Even if you prefer an 8 or 16 team playoff, or no playoff at all, which of these do you think is best?</div>
