Waffle House, the place for late night

Hangover intervention therapy. Let me add one of the strangest episodes ever while I was there was when a bunch of us got tore up on a Saturday afternoon in the spring and ended up at the Waffle House around 5:30pm, very strange for all involved*.

I was there '88 to '94 (multiple degrees):

B-Quik for fried chicken, potato logs, and rolls
Subway (open till 2 am on week-ends, right? or am I thinking of something else?)
Krystal (after they opened in the early 90's)

Mr. Cook closed shortly after I started @MSU.

I ate at Allgood's ("House of Death") once... that was enough for me.

B-Quick had the chicken & logs '82-'85 (3 pieces dark chicken, 3 logs, for $3) and that was my go to hangover healer. Mr Cook had the Chicken Cordon Bleu that was a close 2nd

Waffle House
Stromboli's(if it wasn't too late)
Taste of China because if you spend over $20 they gave you these bread puff things rolled in cinnamon sugar that were pure crack when drunk. Also because it was hilarious to hear the woman yell 'PANDA!' as the greeting every time she answered the phone. Never understood the reason, but that alone got us to order more than a few times.

Krystal, then Starkville Cafe, then Christy's stayed open late for a little while, then Waffle House opened my last 1.5 years.

And that was all in one night**

The Krystal drive thru my freshman year was like the Chick-Fil-A drive thru in Madison.

Yes, but at least the number was easy to remember when you couldn't even remember your own name.

Back in the day ...

think we had two options ... Starkville Café and Train Depot in Artesia which never closed. One could meet and converse with some interesting folks around 3am at the depot.

Made a trip out to the Artesia Depot in a driving rainstorm in the wee hours of the morning my freshman year and the wipers went out. Still don't know how we made it there and back.

House of Death (BBQ) on North Jackson

Nothing quite goes with beer at 3 am than the breakfast platter.

And then try to hang on to consciousness until the pizza guy arrives.

^^^^THIS^^^^^ I always tried to call with somebody else's phone so that if no one was awake to answer the phone, their number was the one banned from delivery.

Pizza Inn. Also Gooch's (though not that late)

Gooch's was some sure fire cardiovascular disease starter... But it was about the only thing on that side of town.

Chicken finger delivery might have been from Rick's? Not sure how late they delivered.
Mine were: Krystal and Hardee's earlier on (because we had no other choice), then Starkville Cafe during their brief venture into 24-hour service and Waffle House.

It is amazing that two Krystals have come and gone in Starkville..

Of course this is the same town that managed to screw up a Waffle House...

Well I figured

out that their delivery times were usually about 90-120 minutes, so if you closed out at 0100 you could usually get back at the house around the time the pie arrived. At most, you would have to wait 30-45 minutes.
