Subway and Mr. Cook's. 89 cent burgers were a great deal on a leanbudget. Not late night but the Danvers $1 fix your own burger was a great feature as well.

I had a 2 for 1 coupon I used for two years before they ever said anything.

Ha, we snagged a couple hundred of these when they were laid out in the lobby of Cresswell fall of freshman year. Those dumb bastards placed 'expires in 30 days' as the expiration date. We were using them even a few years later. 2 1-topping Xlarge pizzas for I think $12.88
Glorious.

Wendys 99-cent menu. Jr bacon cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, small fries, a legitmate sized small frosty.

Mug 'n Cone, The Plaza (I think that's the name). These two are about all that Starkville had in the '60s. They had The Derby, but that was more of a restaurant than fast food. There was no McDonald's, no Hardee's, and no Burger King.

Allgood's (the House of Death), Taco Bell, Krystal

I remember you could get cheese sticks and porn at the same time for a while at Allgood's.

Had a friend pass out at the wheel in the drive-thru line at Krystal. Yeah, he made it to jail before he got to the window.

Another vote for the House of Death

Allgood's had some sour cream fries that went well with one of their chicken sandwiches. I'm sure they were frozen, but who cares at two in the morning?

If you hung around outside Cheers after last call (and the obligatory Clarence Carter), you could usually pick up a cheap pizza at Papa John's from the drivers who got stiffed on a delivery, or if someone didn't come pick up their order.

That expiration date, that was sort of the point. We wanted you to keep ordering, but at the same time, it gave us the ability to not accept it whenever we felt like.

Krystal, then Starkville Cafe, then Christy's stayed open late for a little while, then Waffle House opened my last 1.5 years.

And that was all in one night**

The Krystal drive thru my freshman year was like the Chick-Fil-A drive thru in Madison.

There has to be some serious eye candy at that Madison drive thru

We would call in orders to pick up. Then you just needed a skilled drunk to ride a bike from the cotton district to get it and bring it back. Or send a pledge. Much shorter wait.

Hardees was other choice but required a driver.

Those giant burritos from Coconuts at Nash and University. It made the long walks from Davis Wade tolerable.

Mazzio's in the old cafeteria used to be open late and had all you could eat pizza at midnight on the weekends. We'd hit Krystal's some nights and pay for it the next day. The Waffle House is the standby. Not much else open late when I was there so we generally hung out at someone's apartment after raiding the "Snatch and Bag" for some groceries.

Man

I thought I was the only one that knew about those. Their burritos were bar none some of the best I've ever had, and that's compared to Southern Cal's.

Weekends after midnight, cruising to the "B-sick" for potato logs, day-old fried chicken. It was within walking distance of the Wesley Foundation, where I hung out.
