White facemasks vs maroon ones...this is not a 'what you like' question.

Someone suggested that the white facemasks created a visual depth perception problem that might be lessened with the maroon masks.

Anyone on here have any expertise in that field that could confirm or deny?

Sounds plausible to me, but I dont think this is WHY we dropped more passes in the last game. I just think that visually speaking, if it's true, we need to ditch the white ones.

If there was a depth perception problem with white facemask, then other teams wouldnt wear them either.

/I like the maroon on maroon

there might be some plausibility to that for recvrs ... but if so, it might be

a day vs night thing
ETA- I played @ tight-end a couple years before moving to left tackle and the glare from the lights at night was worse than the daytime sunlight

If anything, I would think the white would help overall

Not the receivers though, the QB. The contrasting colors could only help a QB identify receivers on the peripheral of his vision, but probably not enough to be scientifically proven as an advantage.

Regardless of whether or not there is any real advantage, I'm still superstitious. If we throw and catch better when wearing maroon face masks, don't change.

Doesn't seem to hurt Texas with the #8 scoring offense in the NCAA...

Or Oklahoma State, with the #1 scoring offense in the NCAA. Or La Tech, currently #3.
