Who cheats in women's basketball? And why?

Back when the LSU women's hoops team was really good (mid 2000s)...
some of the stories I heard about their recruiting practices sounded like what you'd hear for football or men's hoops recruits... cars for recruits, jobs for parents, $100 handshakes. Supposedly they had a party for a bunch of recruits and a relatively well-known rap star (don't remember who because I didn't know who he was at the time) was just handing out cash.
Obviously don't know if it was all true but I heard stuff from a bunch of different, unrelated sources.
