Who do you start tonight and why?

I'll start off by saying that it's reasonably safe to assume Ross will go deep tonight in game 2, but we cannot assume he can throw a CG. With that in mind, I really think there are two real options here:

1. Play conservative... Start lindgren and give yourself the best chance to win the matter at hand. Have holder warming up, too. He can pitch in both games, if need be. Problem is, you really burn the option for Jacob to go extended innings tomorrow.

2. Take a chance and start woody. Again, you can have holder throwing both games tonight... EXCEPT if woody has a bad start. Woody can sit guys on the pine if he has his stuff. If not, it won't take much to let TAMU right back in this. The trade off is you save lindgren for possible deep innings tomorrow and leave woody available to pitch an inning or two, as well.

What do you do here? The object is to win the series and we have the game 2 rotation pretty much set. I think you have to play this safe and play your cards to finish this game off with option 1.

Thoughts? I know you got 'em..

I disagree that the object is to win the series. I think with our lead, our opponent, being at home, and considering the SEC standings, our objective should be to sweep. We should gamble a little to try to get back into the SEC race and to get closer to regional hosting position. 2 out of 3 is really just treading water in this case.

Furthermore, I wouldn't expect A&M to chase Game 1 by using good pitching themselves.

My first thought is Bracewell, but if he gets in trouble, go to Lindgren or Holder.

I don't either, but they are one of the best hitting teams in the league. A few swings of the bat and they are right back in it. Also, they are 5-1 in Sunday games in the SEC.

My thoughts are to shoot for par with TAMU and play to sweep Tennessee.

I'd start Bracewell but have him on a short leash. If he gets into any trouble bring in Lindgrin. If Bracewell can give us 2 strong innings then we can use Holder for the 9th and he should still be able to pitch multiple innings Saturday if need be.

Agree on Bracewell, especially if Preston Brown is ready to go Saturday. But if Benny gives you two strong innings, let him finish it. Save Holder until needed. Starting Benny in resumption of game 1 means you are not starting him on Saturday, so go ahead and let him finish game 1 as long he does not get in any trouble.

I forget what the situation was when play was stopped, but I might go out on a limb and try Woody if no one's on. With the full intention of winning the game, and knowing they can hit. You're going to have to play him some if you really want him to have a chance at helping you.

They probably will go with a Bracewell or Lingo- if it's out of those two, I'd want Ben. But I still want to get Woody some quality, yet semi-safe work.

im the gambling type, but all we need is 9 outs. i say that in full realization that for us, that can be difficult at times, but we have a 3 run lead with 9 outs to go. i would go bracewell.

I would start Bracewell. If Lindgren throws 3 innings is he done for the series? We have a 3 run lead, if he pitches to his ERA we win. You can always bring in Lindgren/Holder if Bracewell gives up a couple runs.
