Remains to be seen on Stans, but right now, Polk......

Both seem to be worse situations that what Croom left, though.

1. Polk
2. Stans
3. Croom

Polk left a fairly depleted roster and with no real high quality recruits coming in, at least Stans left with a very good recruiting class on the way. And Rodney Hood and Josh Gray were still going to be there when Stans left, can't really blame him that Ray wasn't able to keep Rodney Hood on the team and that Josh Gray eventually wanted out of his NLI (unless there is more to those stories that we don't know about). Also Ziedaks and SSmith were suppose to be on this team. Pretty sure DSmith and Sidney were gone no matter what.

You have to look at the final product.
Croom's didn't leave much of his own doing. Mullens saved Croom's last recruiting class. Where would we be now if Russell and company would have went elsewhere? (Croom gets a thumbs down for ruining Jackie's 2002 class!).

At least we scrimmage inter-squad with the baseball team.

The Stans implosion was the death-nail to that era.

Brent Brownlee and Paxton Pace will redshirt freshmen that year. Not sure if Jarrod Parks signed with Polk or Cohen but Cohen brought in Justin Bussey from JUCO as well.

Polk straight ran that program into the ground.

Actually, Scott Strickland, Ron Polk, and then Slyvester Croom. The collapse in basketball came about by the inept firing of Stansbury, ie, Strickland had no workable plan in place to replace Stansbury, or if he did it was not well conceived. Had he been prepared to timely replace Stansbury with a known coach things may have worked out quite differently. Amateur at best. Hopefully, he learned and will be better prepared in the future.

Whoever this "Scott Strickland" guy is sounds awful. Scott Stricklin however...

did what had to be done. Please explain what you think should have been done. Hiring a second head coach a year ahead of time, just in case?

Stans left it the worst... Depleted roster + character problems.

Polk left a totally depleted roster full of pansies, but still not bad character guys for the most part...

Croom left a fairly talented roster(even though we had NO idea at the time) with no attitude problems... In hindsight, he left Mullen the best situation by far.

Yeah, if this Strickland dude works somewhere in the athletic department, then Stricklin needs to fire that *** immediately.

There was never a "firing" of Stansbury. If he was "fired," he would not have been offered a position within the athletic department (I don't know what he's doing... but that's beside the point). Stansbury could have stayed if he wanted. StricklIN gave him incentive to leave. Very professional of him, actually. Stans knew what he had left... he put all his eggs in the Renardo Sidney basket and it backfired on him and he knew it. Sidney was a major cancer on our team and everyone around him were a bunch of head cases (except a few). He knew that if he stayed, he would have almost assuredly been shown the door in March.

Also, other coaches are smart enough to know the true condition of our program. That's probably why we ended up hiring an assistant and not a bigger name... not that there is anything bad with that. Ray can still make a good name for himself. The bad news is Stans left absolutely nothing for Ray to build on. Next year will be Rick Ray's team. But no, our situation is not StricklIN's fault... quit being ridiculous.
