We are rooting against the following 6 teams:
Kentucky
Arkansas
Virginia
Cal State Fullerton
Arizona
Miami

We are one of 7 teams on the hosting bubble playing for 2 spots, only one of which will go to an SEC school.

from here: http://sebaseball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1367250

Excerpts:
Kentucky has plummeted from National seed hopeful to a club that might be in danger of a road trip next week. The Wildcats' SEC record is strong but they have faded late and don't have a strong non-conference mark to rely on. If they falter and someone like Cal State Fullerton, Arizona, Miami, or maybe even conference mates Arkansas or Mississippi State make a run, the Cats might not hear their name called next Sunday as a host.

Virginia would seem to be one of the final host teams so a poor showing would allow someone to push them for a final spot. The Cavaliers should watch for Arizona, Cal State Fullerton, Miami, Arkansas, and Mississippi State.

in the hosting discussion. I'm trying to let it sink in. But, it does appear that we are in the discussion at least.

We actually control our destiny somewhat in that we start off with Arkansas. The others- not so much.

I hope we pull it off.

<div>This time last week we were just hoping to stay on the positive side of the bubble and Ole Miss was talking about hosting. Now we may host and they have an outside chance of not getting in the field at all.</div><div>
</div>This should be a warning to you getting your hopes up a little too high. Let's wind the clocks back 5 years: MSU squeaks into the SEC tourney and promptly goes 2 and out, doom and gloom all over Bulldog Nation, Vandy wins it and is the national #1 seed. One week later, MSU is hosting a Super Regional and Vandy is sitting at home wondering what happened.

But I'm probably more happy with a two seed at Rice purely for location. But you cannot beat a regional in the Vegas.

and now that we are in the discussion maybe that will motivate them to play even harder.

MSU baseball attendance is a sleeping giant that just needsa reason to wake up again. We haven't hosted a regional since 2003. We drew 25,000 for a 2-game super regional with 1 of the games played on a weekday morning. If we host a regional, it will be the most attended regional in the tournament. That said, we won't host (this year).

Lost 2 of 3 at home to RPI #145 UC-Riverside. They've got a 3-game road trip @ #68 Long Beach State this weekend. They've basically played their way out of contention, IMO. Hopefully Long Beach St can drive that last nail.

Arizona won 2 of 3 @ #89 USC. They play #19 Arizona State at home this weekend for a 3-game set. We need Arizona St to take at least 2 of 3 from them, preferrably sweep(since AZ ST is ineligible for postseason play).

Virginia and Miami, like us, Ky, and Ark are down to conference tournaments to decide their fate.

The ACC uses round-robin pool-play to determine the teams in their championship game, so teams are guaranteed at least 3 more games.
Virginia is a 4-seed, taking on a 5-seed Clemson, 8-seed Georgia Tech, and 1-seed Florida State
Miami is a 6-seed, taking on a 3-seed NC St, 2-seed UNC, and 7-seed Wake Forest

is a long shot 'this' year, but Cohen's teams seem to play thier best ball late in the season.
