I have a cousin in Memphis who was kidnapped and held for ransom in the attic of a church Back in 1982.

That news story is bonkers by today's standards.....numerous references to the man's weight and how hot the girl was. You would never see that today.

I thought "please bring her back so we can celebrate with her" was an odd phrase... meaning they know she's dead and they want to have a funeral with her body present or something.
I would guess that everything shared like that publicly is coming from a trained FBI team, on how to guide the responses from the perps

Yeah same, like a celebration of life instead of celebrating with her back at home. By damn though if I didn't see a video of her reading out loud a current newspaper from that particular day, they wouldn't see one damn Bitcoin though.

My great-grandmother is the last person I recall using the phrase "raid the icebox". She's been dead for 30 years.

That is a crazy story. Thankful that your cousin was found physically unharmed. Did they ever catch the guy who held her captive?

I would like to know the facts of this case as well. I suspect there is a lot more to this story.

Yeah, that could be concluded from that video, but there's a new one today by Savannah that indicates they really don't know anything.

I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but this guy might have something to do with it:

Can I say something that bothers me about this? If this was my wife or mom, no one would give two cents. Celebrity worship drives me crazy.
Kinda depends on circumstances. If she was your cute niece, and instead of bring kidnapped she fell down a well, you would have the full nation's attention for a couple of days.

Disagree, my child's Sunday school teacher's grandchild died from a falling branch on Christmas, and I saw no public reaction.

While extremely sad, that kind of tragedy doesn’t draw the kind of morbid attention a kidnapping will. It should, but it doesn’t. Everyone is eating up discussing theories and conspiracies

Yeah, but there was no suspense or mystery in your story. If the falling branch was instead an unknown assailant, and instead of being killed she was thrown down a well and still alive, the nation would be on the edge of its seat.

There are over 500,000 missing person reports filed each year in the USA. Regarding child kidnappings, family kidnapping makes up around 50%. The good news is in the US we have a great track record of recovery. I am just making the point. Many families will not receive the same love and care. It is sad, but in our world, if you have money and power, you get the full force of the FBI. Just making a point.
