Who would have thought that Saban could turn that train wreck around that quick?

Remember when people used to think Spurrier was one of the greatest coaches in SEC history. Urban and Nick have made him an afterthought.

that 2 years later, they'd be national champions.

Here's what I wrote:
Win the games played in the state of Alabama except for Auburn because the team is still young. I expect 2009 to be a monster year for the Tide.
Of course I predicted a 6-6 record for the Tide in 2008, so I'm not that good a prognosticator.

But BCS National Champions-- can't get much more monstrous than that.

Just ask yourself how Saban comes in, goes 7-6 first year, and follows that with 2 straight #1 recruiting classes. Hmmm. Make$ one wonder.

Especially with Cody majoring in what?
"Consumer science, I think? " Cody at one of the press conferences in Pasadena.

Very similar to when Fat Phil was at UT and they ignored the Tee Martin shenanigans among several other smoking guns. The cash is flowing big time in T-town and it appears that Saban knows that nothing will happen to him regardless. It was pretty apparent during the season that Bama and Florida both benefitted from several calls and no calls to make certain they entered the SEC Champ. game undefeated. The crappy call on the clear interception in the LSU game in T-town. The raping of Arkansas by the officials in Gainesville versus the Gators.

The stat that is repeated by the talking heads of no offensive holding penalty called against Bama since Oct. should raise everyone's eyebrows. No team, college or pro, goes that long without a holding call unless some serious money is changing hands. Call me master of the black helicopters if you like, but that one stat should be enough to launch a serious look into tampering or game-fixing. How many times did you watch Ingram bounce it to the outside and see their TE or WR holding on the edge? Now, ask youself this question. How many times would State have been flagged on those same plays? Why can't we just let the best team win and let it be decided fair and square?

Rant over

I live in Alabama and I'm very familiar with what alumni have done and will do to get back to that pinnacle. I'm with you on the conspiracy theories. Hell, just ask Logan Young! Whoops, he's dead from falling over drunk and doing his best William Holden impression on his coffee table. He literally got thrown under the bus.

It was common ground back during the 90's for trainers to allow money guys in the locker room before the end of a game and put cash in individuals lockers who had performed well in the win. But I digress.

I just for once would love to see somebody get out there and turn the rock over on this crap and show just how seedy it really is.
