Who Would You Pick
I would hope that whoever votes would pick the last option… If the search firm recommends one of the first three, great. If not, go with whoever the search firm recommends. It’s a no-brainer.

I don't get the obsession with search firms. They don't understand the culture here. Maybe the candidates have good qualifications but are they the right fit? There's just as many problems using a search firm as doing it internally.

Rimington isn't leaving that job for this one

Alvarez is already looking to retire after next year.

Anyone suggesting Trev should be viewed as a qualified candidate needs their head examined.

I hear you, but it could also be said that it doesn’t make sense to limit your scope to what you know. You could be missing out on an amazing possibility.

Maybe there isn’t a right answer here, maybe there is... I just don’t want to take any shortcuts to get where we want to go.

I have been reading some articles put out and I think if you want to go with someone with Nebraska ties, Stewart needs to be on the list. He worked as an associate AD at Missouri for several years and is now in charge of Big 12 football operations. I also like what I'm hearing about the Colorado St. AD. Porter I believe. Seems like he is well liked there and has them "competing" in almost every sport. Draw back is he did not hire Bobo as the FB coach so he doesn't have that on his resume. Just a couple thoughts. If you really want a HR hire though go after Oklahoma's AD, chances are slim we would get him but worth a shot. Or maybe TCU?

Chris Del Conte... and if Riley does indeed not meet the improvement needed he brings Patterson with him. For the record I am not all about firing Riley either, but Chris Del Conte is one of the best in the business!

Before him did you ever hear about TCU athletics?

I thought Ed Stewart got canned from the B1G for mishandling of some hiring in his division? He was involved in that hiring scandal where the woman was paid 6 figures and didn't do anything. FAU passed on him as their AD supposedly. Edit. Guess he's still on staff there according to their website. I know he took some heat for that deal.

Well yes, Patterson was the head coach for a decade before Del Conte showed up. His team was ranked 7th in 2008 and were on their way to the Fiesta bowl before Del Conte was brought in in 2009. That doesn't mean Del Conte wouldn't be a great candidate, he is one of the best. But Patterson is why TCU football is where it is. If Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado and aTm don't leave the Big 12, they are still in the MWC.

He has kept him there though, and he brought in Dixon for basketball. Not to mention the baseball team has been really good!

No reason to over hype Del Conte. TCU was known before Del Conte. TCU baseball was under Schlossnagle for 5 or 6 years before Del Conte arrived at TCU,and had been in the NCAA tournament for years. They made it to Omaha Del Conte's first season as AD, is that because of him or Schlossnagle? Dixon is a great hire, no doubt. There just isn't a reason to create things to prove Del Conte is a great AD.

You might want to research his time at Mizzou a little closer, particularly the situation with Ricky Clemons.

Anyone who decides to shoot down all the candidates that were listed due to just automatic names heard, but not answer the question, should have their heads examined also, but...

Two things about Rimington:
1. He reportedly is interested in both the interim and permanent AD positions.
2. In a 2012 interview after SE was hired he was asked if he would have taken the AD position. His response (paraphrasing) was that yes, he would have taken it but he had no experience and Nebraska deserved better than someone with no background in the job.

There are plenty of good candidates out there, the ADs at Duke, the fake NU, ISU and TCU for example, we really don't need someone learning on the job.

I hope not. The fact that we are using a search committee gives me some hope that maybe we are actually conducting a nationwide search for the best candidate.
I have a feeling this will be a search firm given as much consideration that TO did in 07. A waste of money. Give Alberts or Rimington the job already. Hire Frost and get moving. The fans want their Riley scalp. Why wait?

I don't care if the AD or possible next Head Coach has Nebraska ties or not. All I care is will they do this one thing?

1- Fix it and make us a winner.

Whoever that is hire that person and give them their money!

Sure. Whit Babcock.

Mack Rhoades, Joe Parker, or Chris Del Conte would be fine hires too.

If Alberts had not played at Nebraska people would be irate that we were considering hiring UNO's athletic director. Will any top name in any sport "not just football" want to work for him. The way he handeld the cutting of 2 sports one that had just won national championships 6 out of 8 years

Do you think Trev made these decisions all on his own?

Still the guy holding the ball. It's an all a matter of perception. Just an observation. I would be happy with the invisible man as are AD
