A month ago we were dead in football and riding sky high about basketball. How the hell did it did a 180. Didn’t see this coming from either side.
I’m not sure but I’ll say this. No matter how rough it has been for Stoops, you can’t deny that his players love him and they crawled through glass for him when the going got tough. I hope there are some guys who do that for Pope. So far? Hasn’t happened, at least not this year.

None 0. No fight anywhere in the basketball program currently.

I think a video leaking of him absolutely losing his ****** mind in the locker room would make me feel a little better right now.
Since some of these guys are getting paid so much now, Idk if they even care enough to pay attention if he did say anything.
I hope I’m wrong but it looks like we have some guys on the team that don’t care if they win or lose. I seen a video of pope after the game and I’ve never seen a coach that sad before. I felt sorry for him.

I did too. Even as angry as I am, I started to feel sad. You can tell he is dying inside. He doesn’t have time to sulk though —- he needs to put the hammer down or this group of misfits will be his nail in the coffin.

I could just sit here and keep being mad because there’s good reason but I genuinely feel bad for him also. If it was an outsider I would be like fire his ***! Even tho ik this isn’t acceptable I genuinely feel bad for the guy even if he gets canned. I want him to succeed so bad. I want his non cholant style to work so bad.

I was saying this in another thread. Even as angry as I’ve been, watching his presser just made me sad.

I always felt that a coach should get at least 4 years to build a program. At big time programs, I don’t think that’s going to happen anymore if NIL stays the same. It’s already happening in college football. Look at Brian Kelly and James Franklin getting fired this year. Franklin had a playoff team last year and almost made it to the national championship

I was aggravated earlier but I’m over it. I understand the people that’s being positive and the people that’s negative right now. If I had seen that interview earlier I definitely wouldn’t have been aggravated anymore though.

I agree, but only if the coach has a clear vision. Kenny Payne didn’t get four. Gillispie didn’t get four. Pope is nowhere near as bad as those guys, but if he’s going to sell people on the future, they have to believe in his vision. Right now, I don’t think I even believe in his vision and I’m the analytics nerd. There’s time though to show it.

Honestly? I thought this year Pope would either blast off into a great year or utterly collapse. I didn’t think that we would just be “average “. I’m a saddened that it appears I was right about the latter.

Hopefully he figures out how to get these guys to play better and also starts getting more commitments from some of these 5 star guys we’ve been missing out on.

I couldn’t care less about the five stars. Whether Pope works or not, I’m still not convinced that had anything to do with it whatsoever.

I do hope it gets better. Here’s to hoping 🍻

We just got done with 15 years of those. Seems like we got half the NBA now. What did that get us the last several years?

we’ve came close to signing some really good players recently that I think could have made a big difference. I don’t wanna rely on freshmen completely like with Cal. I just think getting one or two of these guys could help build a team mixed in with senior leadership and solid role players.

Senior? In the days of the portal? Seniors you get this year has no more experience in the system than the freshman. Further, wherever it was they came from obviously weren’t teaching defense or any sort of fundamentals . This is quite simply not the same soort.

Right now,,we are not a good club.
We struggle against quickness.
We struggle against physicality.
We struggle against athleticism.
I hate to say it, but I do not know if we have the talent to overcome these issues.

Different era now! No excuses for Pope or any other coach! Give me $22 million, and UK’s starting five is,
1. Brown
2. Peterson
3. Dybantsa
4. Lendeborg / Wilson
5. JQ (healthy)/ Moreno

Add whatever scrubs of my choosing, and win 30+ games with my eyes closed!

And what makes you think they’ll play together for you? You didn’t even write the check. No contract. They are thinking about their next payday. You are getting *itched out by fans with no knowledge of the situation and think 22 million actually was to buy players.

How are you going to magically heal JQ?
