Why can’t we recruit Memphis in basketball?

I just got back from the Olive Branch vs Memphis East game. 4 guys between those two teams are 5 stars. (All juniors) Not one of them has us anywhere in their top 10. I got to thinking i don’t recall us ever pulling a player out of Memphis but i may be wrong.

Olive Branch upset the #1 team in the country (Memphis East) by the way

Can't answer that, but I can tell you that a guy we did sign named Robert Woodard was a MAN vs Memphis East earlier this year.

Here ya go (he's #12)...

Memphis can’t even recruit Memphis. It’s dirty as hell, and think about this for a second. Aside from just a couple exceptions, the recruiting scene there was so filthy that Calipari wouldn’t even touch it for the majority of the time that he coached there

Memphis has to be the worst place to recruit basketball players in the country. It takes a special person to get that dirty

It used to be Memphis. But lately Kansas has done well. Kentucky is in on a couple of these guys.

I've seen Jeffries of OB play in person and I'm just not interested. I could certainly be wrong, but I saw way too much struttin and way too little effort and enthusiasm for me to want to watch him in Maroon & White. I'm excited about Woodard and Perry.

Not sure who you saw him play against but these supremely talented players tend to do that against lesser opponents. I saw him tonight verses the #1 team in the country going up against another 5-Star James Wiseman and I was impressed

DJ Jeffries is not supremely talented. He's one of the more talented guys of his specific age in the country, which puts him not in the Top 1,000 players in the world. I like seeing a guy who looks like he wants to get better against everybody, not just the best.

Victoria Vivians didn't score all those points in high school playing the way I saw Jeffries play in Jackson last year against a lesser opponent. The difference in effort between him and Nick Weatherspoon in different games at the same tourney was night and day.

Edited to clarify that I looked it up and it wasn't a lesser opponent, they lost to Forest Hill by 9 that night.
