that it takes 5 years to turn a program around, when you do it the right way. How dare he go to a bowl his first year. He must be doing it the wrong way -- you know, by winning and stuff.

2 reasons for this: 1) It doesn't take 5 years to turn a program around. 2) He inherited good recruiting. Nutt can coach with someone else's players. Check Arkansas out in 1998. The year before they won 4 games and in 1998 they are a fumbled snap from taking Tennessee's place.

well, Nutt did inherit more players than Croom did; but more importantly, he got out and hired a VERY qualified Offensive and Defendsive Coordinators and got them paid to come to Oxford and he has apparently been willing to use what assets we have rather than insist on installing last years Arkansas offense that featured the best running back tandem in the country. Also, I really do believe that Nutt was a little awed at the reception he got in the Ford Center and it re-lit his enthusiasm. Finally, our players have now bought into his preaching and now start a game thinking of how to win it and not worried about what will happen to make them lose it.

no flame, but all of those things he has done, you don't have with Croom and staff. after what we went through with O I actually feel sorry for my MSU fan-friends, but I won't dare tell them that to their face.
