Why do I find myself rooting for Ole Miss in this one?

I have a vague understanding. I have no real interest in this game because we damn sure ain't gonna make the tourney and we will be last in conference standings regardless. MSU has nothing to lose or win in this game, so I find myself actually rooting for the Mississippi team that is not MSU in a rare occurence. Weird, but Kuck Fentucky!

Because Ole Miss basketball is harmless. Even in an up year like this one poses no longer term threat to us.

KY, on the other hand, is the great satan.

Not even remotely wanting Ole Miss to win. Also enjoying seeing Henderson keep throwing up piss poor shots.

Hell, that makes it even worse. Your fans can't get any louder than that for their top 20 team AND they throw ice at their own players?

I was having the same confusing thoughts

I think it is because of all the times Kentucky has completely 17ed us. And the fact that I can't look at Calipari without wanting to punch him in the face. I also always liked Rod Barnes and his teams had a real blue collar feel to them - so there are some memories of pulling for Ole Miss that can be activated at times. And I naturally pull for the underdog. So I get it, although in the end, I too enjoyed seeing Ole Miss lose.

Rebel-fan has the same warm feelings for Sylvester Croom.

I root for ole miss in nothing. As a matter of fact, root for Mississippi State, and that is it.

I don't care if its an SEC bowl game. I could care less if any teams win, any game, besides my Bulldogs.

Maybe you had an open can of paint thinner sitting on the floor next to you???

I wouldn't shed one GD 17ing tear if those sorry low down cheating bastards didnt win a game in any sport from now until the end of time. I'm fed up with those arrogant, win at any cost, hypocritical pieces of 17.

Funny ...

They play hard. Impressed by the fans too. Not your average Ole Miss basketball season.

and reminds me that I grew up next door to a rabid OM alum and fan. He 'discovered' basketball right after that they had a good year under Wetlich in like '76-'77 or so. Bought season tickets and traveled 100 miles each way to attend all the games. Lasted a couple of years until they canned Wetlich and brought in Lee Hunt and then Ed Murphy.

He did manage to 'remember' basketball and went back for a year or two under Rob Evans but completely gave it up when Rod Barnes' teams headed south.

You can actually chart and predict attendance based on their record but hey, it's not too different at State.
