I seem to remember Major Applewhite and a linebacker at Texas both wore #11. Also, John David Booty and Brian Cushing at USC both wore #10. </p>

assign the same numbers as a matter of standard practice. Nebraska and Southern Cal both have several players (starters) with the same number. Not sure of the exact wording of the rule.

from the 70's on ESPN Classic, and they had ST players taking off their jerseys on the way back to the bench because they had multiple numbers.

The University of Texas was flagged for it a few years ago, it was either in a Bowl Game on the ABC nightly game but it was a big game.

They had two players with the same number on the field at the same time on a punt or punt return. If I recall the play involved two players wearing #7. Huff at LB, and I do not remember the other.

I think Bama got caught against us doing that like 5 years ago when they sent in a back up kicker with like 47 and one of the blockers was a linebacker with 47
