Why do the Bengals always crap the bed?

I don't think my heart could handle being both a UK and Bengals football fan. Cheers to all of ya!

It's a miserable GD life, but somebody's gotta do it.

And I too am enjoying at least being decent. Those of us who stuck with this franchise through the 90s don't take contending for the postseason lightly. I just want a playoff win. The last time that happened I was playing with Legos in my parents' living room. I'm closer to 40 than 30 now.

The parallels between UK football and the Bengals are astounding too.

I thought Dalton looked great today other than the INT in the end zone (Can't leave points on the field like that) and the fumble, but I put that on Eifert not blocking properly.

My biggest beef with them is Marvin Lewis is without a doubt the WORST clock manager in the NFL.

Too true. Marvin must think he can sell his unused TOs on Ebay.

I've got two words for Bengal fans

1.jeff
2.query

Yes he had a mullet to boot, and was on the bengals teams at their worst. Needless to say he was an easy target and not for the qb lol.
I couldn't find a bengals pic. Unfortunately.

Adam Schefter and Chris Berman both picked Baltimore to win the AFC. I thought that it was crazy to pick them at the time, so I'm glad to see that I'm looking smarter than those guys. They weren't exactly stacked with talent to begin with, then they lose Torrie Smith and Ngata to free agency and lose Suggs for the year with an injury.

I would still fire marvin. Send a message that terrible decisions getting bailed out by a HOF receiver isn't gonna fly anymore.

Sound good Bruce coslet I really miss those 2-14 guaranteed number 1 overall pick seasons. When was the last time they drafted first? Oh yeah that would of been margins first year with Palmer. The problem is, you get spoiled with kentucky then you have to watch the bengals lose in the playoffs. As I said being a bengals fan is a cruel joke. Or that hot chick you think is flittering with you only to find out she's just being nice.

Along with following the Bengals, I'm also a Saints fan. Funny... I never dreamed that NO would hoist a SB Trophy before Cincy had one.

The combined years of frustration of both teams have taught me to enjoy the run the Bengals are currently experiencing. Hopefully, there are no crucial injuries this year, which certainly hampered their postseason efforts the past couple of years.

The Redskins have won 3 Super Bowls in my lifetime. The Bills had a terrific run in the 90s. The Jags have no history.

The Redskins are still enduring one of the worst owners in sports. They aren't exactly going through a happy last decade. The Bills? I know plenty of fans. They aren't exactly thrilled about going to 4 Superbowls in a row when they lost every time.. Scott Norwood, wide right? Woof.

And Jags?! You have to be happy that at least there's SOME team worse off. Garroppolo almost beat them on his own on Sunday.

Bengals are in a great spot. And they've been in a good spot for years. The history isn't there, but they compete. Just got to get over the playoff slump.

The Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1991. That's almost 25 years, chief. Yeah, we've been decent for the last 5 years...with absolutely nothing to show for it. I don't want to hear it from any other fanbases.

At least you're trending upward..

I honestly think that losing your 4th Superbowl in a row might be a worse feeling than losing to Wisconsin this past year. I don't envy those Bills fans.

Are we, though? We started off great last year, too. We haven't even been close in the playoff games.

I think so. AFC North isn't what it used to be, especially with Rapelsberger out. You're 3-0. Talented on both sides of the ball, Young, lots of potential. Coach is less than average. I doubt that changes as long as you're winning.

The Jets win in 2009 was an upset. But maybe it wasn't. While Sanchez sucked, that was a super talented defense. A make-up a lot like a Steeler's team.

Tough schedule, and you do have the playoff monkey on your back, but I think the Bengals are having as good of a start as anyone not named New England.

What is everyone's opinion on the Eifert catch? How was that not a TD? I know the announcers were hanging on the Ravens nuts the whole game and liked the call. He caught the ball, made a football move, and crossed the plane.

It's a friggin' catch. If grabbing the pass, feet down/steps, turning and trying to cross into the end zone with a defender hanging on you isn't a "football move"... I don't know what else would be.

The refs followed a strict interpretation of The Rules, we're told, but it's obvious The Rules need to be changed. Worst case should be that the TD didn't count but the catch/possession did, and the ball would be placed at the goal line... which would've been a 1st down for the Bengals in that case.

It's a catch. It's a stupid rule. There are somethings in sports which you don't need exact rules. I know a catch when I see one.

I agree with you guys. That was more a TD than someone jumping into the corner of the end zone, sticking the ball over the piling, tucking it back in and falling out of bounds. How can that be a TD but Eiferts wasn't. Stupid rules from the NFL.

4 steps. 4 freaking steps he took before lunging across the goal line.

How touching many steps do you have to take before you "complete the process?"

That rule is an absolute joke.

I think had that been the patriots they would of kept it a touchdown. They were saying on sportscenter that every year that's always been a touchdown. This will happen to another team this year lets hope it's a team like the patriots and they do the same thing to them.

I hate the rule. If you go in standing up and drop the football after breaking the plane, it's a td. For some reason they have stipulated that if you go to the ground you must retain the ball through the process of going to the ground. Kinda stupid.

It has to be miserable for Bengals fans seeing the wins yet knowing deep inside its going to be another disappointing ending to the season.

For as knowledgeable as Ky fans are about basketball. Most of you are embarrassing in your knowledge of football.

Aaron Rodgers won his first playoff game in his sixth season. Peyton Manning won his first playoff game in his fifth season. Both were 27. Andy Dalton is in his fifth season. He is 27. Anyone who thinks Dalton somehow must be defined by his first four years -- all of them playoff years, which neither Manning nor Rodgers accomplished -- knows nothing about NFL football.

Throw all the stats you want or tell non Bengals fans they do not know football, but the only fact that really matters is the last time the Bengals won a playoff game was in 1991. Another year another thread full of Bengals fans spewing their false hope. Great fan base though. Long suffering much like KY Football fans. Good luck. Cincy needs a winner in something.

Even if they make the playoffs, they won't win a game. They're like the NFL's version of the Atlanta Hawks the past decade. Never really do anything.
It is the perception that they do have to shake. I have been a harsh critic of Lewis and Dalton. I still won't believe it until I see it, but the Bengals have probably the best roster ever in their history that includes two Super Bowl teams.

I will say that Dalton looks different than in past seasons. It always seemed the staff tried to keep him from having to win the game. Well, against the Ravens, he had to win the game "twice" and he did. I'm still leary, but the offense looks the best it's looked since the '05 team, maybe better. I'm not convinced, there seems to be a different feel to this team.

I'm the same way. Right now, the Bengals are one of the top 3-4 teams in the league. I think this could be the year they win a playoff game. But, injuries and Dalton going back to bad Andy are my main concerns.

Next week is a big test. Dalton historically gets panicky when he's pressured. The Seahawks bring a lot of pressure. Conversely, the Seahawks offense isn't looking great right now, but Wilson scares me. QBs who can make something out of nothing have always killed Cincy defenses. Should be a good one.

Bengals fans: Never can enjoy the present because we're constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop

If they stay healthy, I think the Bengals would be favored in 14/16 games this year. Only seeing them being underdogs @Arizona and @Denver
