Why do the Bengals always crap the bed?

Burfict did run across the field and give a chest bump to another player. I guess he was able to diagnose the injury in those 2 seconds or maybe he was just celebrating the fact that he made a nice open field tackle after being out of football for a year, I dunno.

He's definitely a knucklehead though.

I wonder if those same Steeler players thought it was cool when Mike Mitchell celebrated laying out Marvin Jones?

Do you think there was anything even remotely questionable about either tackle?

Nelson's hit was clean and Bell even acknowledged that himself.

Burfict's might be another story. The guy is a POS and has a history of going after ankles/knees.

Don't forget the 15 yard penalty for getting into AJ's grill after the hit and telling him he's next.

And I guess since Steelers are going to gripe about Bell's injury on a clean hit I should mention Carson Palmer and Kimo Von Whatever his name was. Right?

Honest question. Did you even see the tackle that resulted in Bell's latest injury?

Burfict had him wrapped up high. Bell's legs got caught underneath him. It had zero to do with how Burfict tackled him.

Don't disagree w/that. It was just a bad break and I don't think he meant to injure him, but his history and his reaction to the play make me think he was glad it happened.

The assign single handily changed the fortune of the bengals from 2005 till the rifle came along in 2011. Had Palmer not been injured, we will a playoff game in that span. What I hate about Pittsburgh, besides the fact they get away with rape(pun intended) is they can lose a guy like bell then go out and get the likes of Ron Dayne and not miss a beat. The bengals lose a guy it sets them back 10 years. You watch the steelers just signed Jacoby jones who hasn't been relevant since the bush administration will go out and score 5 touchdowns on 12 catches with 220 yards.

I can see the criticism of Lewis not winning a playoff game, he had division winners in 2005 and 2009 and they couldn't win at home.

But in the Dalton era playoff games, the Bengals were decided road underdogs in three of the four losses. The San Diego loss was a crap-fest, and they probably could have beaten Houston in the 2012-13 wild card round with a better game from Dalton, but they were over matched in 2011-12 and played a skeleton roster in Indy last year.

This is true.

There's a reason for 2005 (QB got knocked out on his first pass attempt), 2011 (Rookie QB with the flu on the road in his home state on a team that backed into the playoffs while playing a 4th place schedule), and 2014 (Practice squad was starting on offense). 2009 and 2013 were absolute bed ***** that deserve all the scorn they get. 2012 was an underdog that played poorly against a team they could've beaten but weren't expected to.

I've been a Bengals fan since 88 when I caught Super Bowl fever as an 8 year old. Dad is a fan too. This is the best all around team with the most depth they've had since that one. Will it translate to the postseason? I don't know. But, they're built for success and I'm starting to believe in them. And that's scary. Because I've been known to call losses if they fall behind 7-0.

The second Steelers game worries me because I have a feeling at least one Bengal is heading to IR as "payback" for Bell.

Only a few hours away from seeing if Andy and the Bengals can make it two in a row on PrimeTimeTV.

I like their chances... as long as they aren't thinking about next week vs. Carson & AZ, as I'm sure they just watched the Cardinals' gritty performance on SNF.

Skill players killed us tonight. Eiffert and green with the critical mistakes. Oh well... maybe we can scrape into the playoffs after these 3 straight losses.

Being a Bengals fan and UK football fan is disturbingly painful. Just when you think you might be turning the table. Bam! A qb nobody wanted fills in for an ineffective qb that gets injured and rams a loss down your throat.

Well, that was a fustercluck by the offense, for sure. The D just had the one series of screw-ups, which gave up what turned out to be the deciding score, unfortunately... but they played their asses off. This loss is on the O... and even though Andy looked bad, the Tyler E drops and ineffectiveness of Green had a lot to do with that.

Still, I'll take one bed-crapper and 8 victories, at this point. It doesn't look like the Patriots are going to give up that top seed, anyway. The Bengals will have to win that game at Denver in order to get the 2 spot and bye. If they do that, maybe it'll end up a rematch with the Texans, when all is said and done?

Well, it was fun to feel like they were going to punch it in on that last drive and win the game, in spite of the overall poor showing. It'll be interesting to see how well they bounce back in AZ game.

Who Dey!!!

One of the main reasons I was mad about the loss is that I don't like our chances this week @ Arizona. They're a good team who will have home field advantage and an extra day of rest.

^^^Yeah, no doubt it was bad to let this one slip away, because AZ showed me they are for real with the way they won in Seattle.

A lot can happen over the next few weeks, but seeing if the Bengals "man up" next week will set the tone for my postseason expectations.

Bengals defense hasn't given up more than 10 points in a game since Burfict came back. But offensively, two of the last three games have been real clunkers.

The Bengals had a good 1st half. They shot themselves in the foot with some of those penalties, but at least they've shown up tonight.

Palmer and the Cardinals will have made some adjustments, I'm sure.

I don't have any confidence in this team. To the point where I wouldn't be surprised with a 10-6 record and another wildcard loss.

If they lose tonight, they're 8-2. Dropping 4 of the remaining 6 would be a colossal choke. Basically, Manning is out, Colin K. at SF is done, and today Flacco goes down. I just don't see that happening to the Bengals without several key injuries.

@Denver is a sure loss. Other than that, we MIGHT beat San fran. This team is habitual chokers.

Multiple huge drops in big games. The team plays scared. They're all wimps and it starts at the top.

I don't know what they'll do when the postseason comes... but I'll take the over 10 wins action, just to make it interesting. Keep it the "friendly" zone, and I'm good for it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Bad call to not just go for the 1st down... and TOs in your pocket. Use up some clock. Now, leaving Palmer with too much time, maybe?

Choke job on defense. If you're playing for the tie then run it up the damn middle and give them 20 seconds not touching ******** 65 seconds. Terrible *** coaching. Fire Marvin.

Trash *** franchise.

What a damn joke. The bungles beat themselves tonight. That last drive to win it for Arizona was a joke. They made Palmer look like tom Brady. The secondary and tackling were a joke. Dalton and Bernard played their asses off. I wish somebody would of told the defense

The teams cincy beat to get to 8-0 weren't good. It was a reach that this team was among the 10 best in the league. The best wins are a miracle comeback against a 5-5 squad, @oakland and barely beating Pitt in Ben's first game back when bell blows a wheel.

This team could legitimately lose 7 of their last 8 games.

That one goes on the coaching staff. Should've stuck with going for the 2 yards to get the 1st down... even if you don't make it, kick the FG and 35 (or more) seconds less are on the clock when you give it back to the Cardinals.

Marvin & his guys have never... NEVER... been able to manage the clock well. Did they even know AZ had no TOs left!

The D did their job on the previous series, but were not having good night against the pass. A minute is way too much time to give opponent in that situation, especially when they only need a FG.

Anyway, they fought for it... looked a helluva lot more like they wanted it compared to the Texans game. I'm not jumping off the bandwagon.
