Corporate merger. That simple. Shannon Terry started Rivals then sold it, then started On3 and bought back Rivals. I’m sure there are other parties involved but he’s the front man. Yahoo also still has some stake in On3 apparently
I'm curious what happens with the recruit databases and the scouts who help rank these recruits. Will there continue to be separate databases between the On3 and Rivals evaluation teams? Or will they be merged? For now at least, it seems the Rivals ratings are still showing up in the cumulative player rankings/ratings.
BTW, whatever happened to the old Scout.com sites? Did they simply go out of business or did On3 or 24/7 acquire them? I can't remember. Someone should bring Scout back just so we'll have a 4th recruit ranking/rating system to maintain the status quo. LOL.

Scout was was bought by 247 Sports in 2017
Terry Shannon started AllianceSports in 1995 and then sold in to Rivals.com in 2000 for $3 million. He then turned around and bought Rivals.com in 2001 for $500,000 after Rivals.com parent company went bankrupt.
Terry’s investment group sold Rivals.com to Yahoo in 2007 for roughly $98 million.
Terry founded 247Sports in 2010 and sold it to CBS Sports in 2015
Terry then founded On3 in 2021

Kudos to Terry for basically creating the exact same website three times and having corporations pay millions for them each time.
Heck of a business man but it suck’s he owned them all and we have to keep switching and losing all our history. Ugh.
Mark Cuban sold 3 internet businesses and made himself one of the wealthiest Americans. All 3 websites he sold went bankrupt. Lol

My biggest complaint is that we will no longer have people necro threads from 10 years ago to make another member look like an idiot for not being able to see into the future. I will miss the pointing and laughing.
