Why do we attempt a steal of third?

Did the hitter miss a sign? Whether the base was stolen or not, that was just plain stupid.

made it and we had the base stolen- the player has to do his part of staying on the bag. You on the other hand- get paid zero for your opinion on baseball- and there is a reason for that.

When we stole on the 1st pitch in the 1st and 3rd situation to get our 3rd run in scoring position, we caught them by surprise because they started our hitter off with a breaking ball- they dont do that if they think he is running. Aggressive baseball. And because we are aggressive- they called a pitchout later in the game in a 1-2 count- and we werent going. Aggressive baseball helped our hitter at the plate get out of a 1-2 hole.

Playing by the book doesnt always cut it

Just because proper execution would have bailed out a bad decision doesn't make the decision any less bad.<div>
</div><div>It would have still been a bad decision had he managed to hang onto the bag. We would have just gotten away with it.</div>

And while I don't make 300K a year, I do make more than a high school coach and there's a reason for that.....</p>

It's only a dumb move if we are thrown out- we werent.

We beat the throw and had the base. He obviously saw something to make that call- and it was right- we beat the throw. Just got to complete the play?

Exactly, our smartest player fouls a 3 point shooter late in the Vandy game, and it's dumb coaching and lack of coaches teaching our players not to foul jump shooters. This happens today, and it's all on the player, even though this isn't the first time this has happened.<div>
</div><div>Then he acts like he's above someone b/c he coached jr high girls ball, which they usually ask just about anyone to do. Gotta love experts on football, baseball, and basketball. You must be at a small AND terrible school to be coaching 3 sports at once, where was this, Hebron?</div>

To your 1st comment- you got a link? I want to see where I blamed Stansbury for Benock fouling a jumpshooter. Produce it or shut up with your ********

To your 2nd comment- Ionly coached all 3 my 1st two years in coaching at Heritage- in which we played for the state championship in all 3 sports that 2nd season (unfortunately, lost all3-)- it's tough to be very good in all 3 sports, too much is demanded of your time.

And your vast knowledge of the major sports is based on two years of coaching at a tiny private school? I guess you're just as qualified as... the rest of us. My dad had to pull double duty when he got started, too. He nearly coached the baseball team at St. Aloysius to an undefeated season three decades ago and was district coach of the year. But he doesn't use that experience to back his baseball arguments, because he was a football coach.<div>
</div><div>And even then it shouldn't take an avid follower of baseball, much less a former multi-tasker like yourself, to realize that Cohen is over-coaching. Maybe he's compensating for the new bats, but sometimes he should just take a page out of the (yes) Rick Stansbury playbook and let 'em ball. </div>

bunted twice down by a run in the 9th with no one on. I wondering about those calls too.

Coach may very well have some knowledge of the major sports but is using zero common sense with his logic. Just because Cohen picks up on something and calls a play that works does not make it a smart play. When a football team is up big in the fourth quarter and the other team stacks the box to stop the run it is technically a great time to throw the ball. However, someone with common sense knows that is not the right play. Please explain to me why in any situation you would have a guy on second with no outs try to steal when you need one run? Even if the odds are greater that he will be safe it is not worth the risk of losing a base runner. Also explain the part about the batter at the plate attempting to bunt while the runner steals. We win both games with average coaching.

Charleston, MS Palmer- you know other 3A schools in the MHSAA? and especially back in 92, 93, 94?

Why would you compare a smaller school to a large public school?

If We can't get a runner in from second with nobody out , I can live with that. I can't live with giving away that base runner witha stupid decision which is just what We did and have been doing for 3 years now. Cohen doesn't understand base running.

What makes it worse is the hat throwing fit he went into after the play was over.Clearly he was too pissed at the player for over sliding the bag to realize what a bed shitting call it was to begin with.

Even if Cohen gets better players and We begin to win more in the future , mark my word , We will continue to losesome games We should win due tobad base running. It has been a 3 year trend and I doubt if it will change.

When one of his favorites is a dumb *** he defends until the end . Yet, he has a diatribe every day about a successful basketball coach no matter what he does. Cohen has made some extreme bonehead decisions and yesterday was just the norm for him. I am not saying we should fire Cohen, but he has certainly been a disappointment so far. Our talent is not great but that is a bad Alabama team and we made them look good. From pitching decisions to changing pitchers at odd times along with some of the obvious bad baserunning errors, are all coaching decisions. Cohen has signed some decent talent and has a good group coming in next year but if they continue to play like this whether uptight or not, it has to be examined. Coach will never admit he wrong no matter what happens and will try to change his posting history if one of his so-called coaching theories blows up in his face. That is exactly why he is selling condoms now.
