Why doesn't State try using athletes in more than one sport?

It seems to work great for LSU. They have used combos in track/football and baseball/football.

holds the nation's fastest time in the 100m this year. I think he's a Holliday type from LSU; really small, but can fly. Surely Mullen has talked with him.

And I do realize there were a couple of exceptions early in his career (Tim Parenton and Glenn Young come to mind), but neither of those really played much in baseball. Parenton was a backup shortstop and Young was a pinch runner. I would think that guys like Mullen and Cohen would be more open to the idea of a player really playing both sports.

and he did start two black outfielders when he was at Georgia, but for the most part yeah you're right. And I agree with fish that I'm glad to see our new coach is trying to recruit some black players.

Tavaris (the guy from starkville) has the number 1 time in the 400 not the 100 although he is top 5 in the country in the 200 (might have the number 1 time in it) and very fast in the 100 also (won state in it I'm pretty sure) but he hasnt played football since probably 7th grade and his father isn't going to let him anywhere near a football field. Tavaris has been track all his life, won aau nationals in 5th grade and its been track ever since</p>

I think there are some other reasons why we haven't done this more. First of all, LSU's football team is a freakshow. And they have depth. Jared Mitchell was a guy that was buried on their depth chart in football. At MSU, he would have probably started. When you have that kind of depth, it's going to be a lot easier for your head football coach to say, yeah, go play baseball if you want.

The problem we have is that the two way guys that are either good enough to get a scholarship for maybe one sport, but not the other. Like that Coty Bradford guy- we want him for baseball, and he wants to play football, but probably isn't worth a football scholarship at an SEC school.

Now that said, if we get a guy that can play both, by all means, we need to do it.

3rd and 10 from the 15 yard line--the QB could just tell him to jog to the endzone and then the ball to him.

Seriously, I always thought that Branden Vincent would be an awesome receiver. 6'8", 240 lbs., good hands--doesn't matter if he's super fast, he'd be fast enough, and no cornerback is going to take the ball away from him.
