Why has Brad Neffendorf never been mentioned as a possible Baseball Coach?

I did a search and that name gives no return so if someone did mention him but not as Neffendorf I apologize. I know it is NAIA but a 54-0 record is something to at least talk to that architect of that.

I think you'd have to miss on some guys for him to even get a look, but I agree that 54 - 0, no matter the level, is LOUD.

Cause nobody's ever heard of him? I get that 54-0 is unheard of, but it's NAIA. You can bet his school is pouring multiple times as much money into baseball as the competition is.

Read his bio. Dude is winner. I suspect unless he just LOVES Shreveport-Bossier (lol), he'll be coaching D1 baseball next season.

I couldn’t help but to laugh and I did only because people have been so serious about the coaching search that folks here have been criticized for suggesting JUCO coaches.

Neffendorf sounds intriguing but his next stop needs to be a D1 school.

I wouldn’t go so far as to compare him to DeBoer like BannerM but he does win…

Aren't we a D1 school?

Funny how some think we are too good to get a potential up and comer but not good enough to get a truly proven commodity.

I was going to say a run-of-the-mill D1 school but if that doesn’t describe State, what does? **

True that.

To be fair, we’ve been snakebit more than a few times by potential up and comers…

Hey Cochise update on the little one? All good I presume?

It all went smoothly. He was disoriented and violently fussy coming out of anesthesia. The only time I've been under was at 16 for the removal of my wisdom teeth. It was surreal and I imagine for one so young it's mind-bending. He was a bit groggy, napped a little in the truck. Then was wide open. The discharge papers recommend "quiet play." My toddler-asaurus doesn't know what that is. He's hydrated and taking soft foods, slept through the night, and woke up full throttle this am. Currently, he's driving his mother crazy at home while he "recovers."

I appreciate your concern.

We've also struck gold, by our standards and history, with Mullen and ... it's difficult to figure out where to put Lemonis on this scale.

I agree. However, Most of those up and comers were either assistants or lower level D1 so it wasn't this resume.

I admit I know nothing really about this guy. His resume is pretty ridiculous. I would do diligent research on the guy, and maybe they have. With the MSU mindset and pocketbook if this guy is the real thing and goes to a D1 school and continues his success, there is no way we would get him later.

Michael Avalon has a fantastic resume and he's got The River back in the JUCO CWS this year. He has to literally rebuild every year and yet he consistently wins at an extremely high level every single year, won a National Title in 2022, and doesn't have a weird name. Mentioning him as a possible candidate gets laughed off of this board, but he obviously knows how to recruit, find hidden talent, and maximize a roster. I realize there's an inherent risk with any hire regardless of what level they come from, but who is it that is intriguing enough to want to extend an offer to? If there's a sitting Power 4 head coach that's had a high level of success and wants to coach at Mississippi State then obviously you hire him, but what do you do if those options are off the table? You've got to go somewhere and you've got to hire someone based off of qualifications and what those specific qualifications are.

Makes me think of Moorhead and his record at Fordham I think it was. Dominant. Killing everyone in their league. Then later we find out they were the only school that was giving football scholarships. Not that I know that's the case with Neidermayer.

He's had alot of success at LSUS, I wonder why he hasn't been picked up already?

That's great, but it seems like he'd be someone the SEC head coaches should be looking at to potentially hire as an assistant? Would he really not leave JUCO to be an assistant at an SEC school knowing that could lead to a good head coaching gig?

We won the natty in 2021. Nothing short of a MLB World Series winning HC will do on 6pack.**

He should take the Louisiana Monroe job, and if he's successful there, it shouldn't be long before he gets called by a P4 school.

Had never heard about any of this before this thread. A 10 minute rabbit hole and I'm impressed, 54-0 is incredible and unlikely.

But their schedule has been, shall we say, favorable. 133rd ranked SOS in NAIA. Toughest team they've played is ranked 23rd by Massey. All of the other top NAIA teams have played much tougher schedules.

For what it's worth...

You really hold MSU baseball in such low regard that you'd consider hiring an NAIA coach?
Can’t be worse than hiring a guy that had only 3 years of coaching experience ever, in any role and at any level, and had never been a HC. And we already checked that box, so who the hell knows.

I'd be interested to know if anyone is familiar with a HC at this level who has been hired directly from NAIA to D1 and found success.

No doubt. But it is baseball and anyone can lose 1 game. You wouldn't believe that Mizzou would beat A&M but it happened.

Heck in 2022 he was picked as baseball coach of the year in Louisiana.

Like I said if I was doing the looking I would watch about 20 of his games. See the preparation or is it somehow he manages to get The 25 best players to go to Shreveport at that level? Either way I would talk to him.

I agree. An athletic department worth it's salt should be turning over every rock (and have the skill to assess what's underneath).

With the ridiculous amount of time this staff has to conduct this search and considering the money they make, you'd think they'd nail this.

I have many doubts...
