A few years ago, we had a guy started attending our church. He's a former pastor who left his church during covid. They started becoming really involved in our church and we were a place for healing for them as ministry can become really difficult. Life was good for them and he was starting to heal, including physically. Then the bottom started to drop out on them. For some reason, his wife started becoming suddenly fearful and could hardly go outside of their home. This went on for about 9 months as she went to see all kinds of therapists. Finally, they did some medical tests and found she had a brain tumor. She struggled for almost 2 years before passing away. The whole time, he never left her side for a minute. He quit his job and slept beside her on a cot and thus, did a lot of damage to himself physically, so much so that he could no longer walk.

As his wife passed away and he really couldn't walk anymore, I felt as if I was watching the life of Job in real life. Not only am I his pastor, but we have become very good friends, especially as we are both pastors.

It has been about a year since his wife passed and he is a huge Brewers fan as he he grew up in Milwaukee. He has not had much joy over the past few years, but he certainly has enjoyed his Brewers this season. I am hoping for a small amount of happiness to come into his life by a Brewers world series win. He knows and understands that true joy only comes from God, and in the midst of all this, he has that joy, but it would be nice to see his team win it all and put a smile on his face even it's just temporary.

One of our best family friends has aggressive cancer and is a huge Wisconsin sports fan. He’s gone through so much but has still kept the faith and puts his shoes on every day. I’m pulling for them for him and his son.

And remember former bulldog Brandon Woodruff pitches for the brew crew.

And all this time I thought you liked the Brew Crew because you like to toss back some PBRs!

Unfortunately Brandon is not on the NLCS roster due to a lat strain he suffered in September. The last thing I read said it's doubtful he would be ready for the World Series. I hate that for him.
