Might as well call it " Alabama's, Alabama vs. Mississippi Allstar Game". Notice all the Alabama tourism commercials, while we play DOT and MHP public safety/DUI commercials.

What's wrong with this picture??

Was just thinking the same thing

You think they would alternate each year. However, it does seem like there are a lot of people cheering for the Mississippi team.

I think it would be a great event for Jackson. Every other year- alternate with Montgomery.

And why is the baseball tournament always in Hoover? And the SEC office in B'ham? And yes, we should refuse to play another "allstar" game in alabama until we figure out how to alternate the location.

It's in Al because the game promoters have sponsors in Al who make six figure sponship. If a large sponsor stepped forward in MS then the game could be in MS.

Would like to know where all this supposed $$$$$$ is coming from....

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

definitely not ticket sales as the stadium was maybe 1/3rd full. No reason the site for this game between all-stars from 2 different states shouldn't alternate. If Alabama doesn't want to do it maybe Arkansas or some other State would. Heck, the game really doesn't have to be played at all and to be treated like a stepchild in the thing is embarrassing.

From what I saw, the stadium was less than 10% full. And weather wasn't a problem.

Seems logical that the game would be alternated between the two states ... anywhere in Mississippi, not necessarily Jackson. I don't know what it's like now, but when I grew up in Meridian the stadium was always full for home games, and as I recall it holds about 12,000. They loved HS FB back then, and probably do now too.

I have wondered from day 1 why it doesn't rotate from state to state every year. I'd give them a big '17 YOU!' if they won't come to Jackson to play. If we have to play it in Bama every year can we at least bring our refs? What did we have today? 170 yds in penalties or something like that? An offsides penalty on a kickoff when they're booting it through the endzone? Give me a break! I'm not sure I know the highschool rules but their DL jumped causing our OL to jump on an XP and we got the penalty. Also, I just saw a punter get knocked the 17 OUT last week in the NFL after he fumbled a snap then punted and there was no flag. As I said, I don't remember the highschool rule but I thought if there was a fumble or if the punter made any motion outside of the normal punting motion then you could nail him. One last thing, I saw Bama get flagged for an unsportsmanlike that never got walked off (on a FG play) and on our second TD they grabbed the WR but a flag was never thrown. Good thing he caught it and took it in. No, the refs didn't beat us but still....... One thing was strange, I don't think I saw an offensive holding call on either team the whole game. There is actually holding on every play by every offensive team from pee-wee to the NFL if the refs want to call it. But, of course, this game was played in Alabama and we know they don't call holding in that state after Halloween. Oh...... and Chris Jones IS A FREEK!!!!!

If you paid attention at all you would have noted the Lions Club was a big player along with other corporate sponsors. I know that Johnny Mims at the Mississippi Association of Coaches has tried repeatedly to get sponsors in Mississippi but no one was willing to step up. According to the Clarion Liar this morning Johnny says that it may happen in the near future. Football in one state and basketball in the other state rotating each year. Unlike Alabama, the Mississippi High School Activities Association plays no part in this game. They are afraid they might have to spend some of the hundreds of thousands they collect all year long from the fans. Greedy bastards.

I was about to say that Ray Stadium in Meridian is more than capable of hosting a game like that. Granted, it's at a MS high school, but chances are, a Meridian player won't be playing in a game (not that it'd matter much, anyway)... but I'd like to see the game alternate between the two states.

So we should play the tournament in Starkville every year, or maybe alternate between Starkville and Tuscaloosa. Either way is fine with me.
