Why not fire Pelini a year earlier?

Red Rover, resorting to name calling? The Pelini poison must be seeping into the fan base because you just don't appear to be trying too hard.

I was inoculated long ago from Pelini and his toxic band of misfits.

I am so happy to hear that, maybe you can truly make an impact and pass that on to your buddy Smiling Mike. Last I checked, he looks a little lost and appears to be searching pretty hard on what to do next.

He's just trying to treat the kids right unlike that worthless human being and horrible coach currently at Youngstown State.

Mike will work with them through this tough time. He's gonna be a leader of young men.

So, if Pelini was a cancer--a man who poisoned the program and destroyed the Nebraska way--why wasn't he fired a year earlier? Serious question. I don't know the answer. It seems to me that if everyone close to the program could see he was so poisonous, retaining him an extra season would be tantamount to complicity in his crimes.

Maybe some boosters backed him? But even then, shouldn't people like Pettit have had the integrity to raise a ruckus?

And before anyone calls me a BOliever or such nonsense, I advocated that Pelini be fired after the Iowa game in 2013.

I believe the standing wisdom at the time was that Bo had certain backers that were key, along with the face that Eichorst was new and would not probably come in right away and axe a coach. Preferring to give a little time and let him hang himself.

Whatever fits the narrative. For crying out loud, we now have Harvey Perlman commenting as a so called expert about recruiting classes and a girls volleyball coach as a football expert as well.

I saw some value in this post in the sense that, it does kind of look bad.

Generally, you would not expect people to air dirty laundry in public, and with others publicly putting statements out there, it is a bit like that now.

It's like a public fight between the administration and the fan base. I don't think it looks all that great. Not the end of the world either, but in that sense, I thought that part of your post had some merit.

Good question. At best the situation was/is being badly managed.

Do the guys bashing our current coaching staff not see what some of the ex Husker players that played under Bo are saying to our current players, who played under Bo as well and now Riley. I really think this year isn't on our staff, im starting to truly believe its ex players that love Bo so much affecting some of our current players and this is leading to them to make mistakes, not playing to there potentials and possibly not buying into this staffs system and affecting younger players as well. Its certainly possible. Again just look at tweets and comments from Bell, Compton and all these other Bo players. They really could be getting to current players on our team and we are not getting there best. And all the injuries we have had at key positions doesn't help any either. I say we give this staff a chance, a year or 2 to clean house and get players in that are fully committed to this staff and system. Or hell lets see how we do against a ranked team this week, maybe we will hang in there or beat them.

Honest question to the Riley haters, IF we beat MSU, Rutgers and Iowa, would this help change your opinions on our current staff or are you guys just so suck on hating Riley and so far up Bo's ***?

I have been thinking about talking to Daniel Davie the next time hes in town and asking him what he thinks, if theres a divide in the locker room or if theres players not buying into the staff and not giving there all. But then again, id hate to get him into trouble for speaking about something he shouldn't be, so im a bit torn. Yes im from Beatrice and i know him pretty well. It kills me to see some of the hating some of you guys have voiced about him and his struggles this year. I can tell you this, he's a true Husker, bleeds and loves the Huskers and hes been going out there and giving it his all. I think hes trying to hard and having that stuck in quick sand effect. He will snap out of it and get it back again soon enough.

Because it would have been just as dumb to fire a 9 win coach as it is to fire a 3 win coach according to knowledgeable Nebraska fans.

All because fans got their feelings hurt.
