While looking at mock drafts to see where Banks would land (anywhere from 8 to 25, so far), I've seen where BOTH of their tackles will be top 10 overall picks. I don't know of a team that can just reload two top 10 picks overall at the tackle position and expect the same production.

Add in DE Damontre Moore at #9, that's another big hit. Just like when we lost Fletcher, it's rare that you can have another guy step in and perform at that level.
They also lose another starting DL in Spencer Nealy and two starting LB's iin Jonathan Stewart and Sean Porter, and one CB Dustin Harris and FS Steven Terrell.

Other notable losses (seniors):

All three starting WR's one the 11/21/2012 depth chart Ryan Swope, Uzoma Nwachukwu, Kenric McNeal , TE Michael Lamothe, C Patrick Lewis

Summary: 3 starting OL (two of which are top 10 NFL picks), all three starting WR's, starting TE, starting DE (top 10 draft pick) and DT, two starting LB's, two starting DB's

Seven starters on offense gone, six starters on defense gone.

Sumlin is a great coach, I think a lot of him, but nobody is going to easily recover from that number of hits. They have a top 5 recruiting class coming in, but there's still a significant gap between all these starters and a bunch of freshmen.

Not to mention that the 2nd time around everyone will have seen his offense. I do think they will be a solid team next year, but not a top 10 team. Their FR WR is a beast. And Manziel is going to be very hard to tackle no matter who's blocking for him because he's so elusive. But there will be a definite drop off next year.

seeing their offense is one thing...stopping it is something else...ask State.

Well, we couldn't stop any offense this year so that's not really a good comparison. But in every tough game they played, the defenses adjusted to what they were doing after about 15-20 minutes and pretty much shut them down from there on. Against Bama, LSU & Florida they scored a combined 17 points in the 2nd half. The nature of things is that when a new offense starts having success, defenses begin to adjust to them and learn how to at least slow them down. The really good defenses adjusted quickly and shut them down pretty much completely. The mediocre defenses will begin to catch up to a lesser degree the 2nd time around the league.

The problem with this reasoning is that all 3 of the projected first rounders are juniors. They think they are getting at least 2 of them to come back and finish their degree. While I agree that this is crazy talk, you won't find a really plugged in A&M fan that doesn't believe it to be true. Apparently Moore is very close with Vonn Bell's family who are trying to talk him into finishing his degree, and Matthews/Joeckel both come from BIG money A&M backgrounds where there is not a monetary concern for the NFL...

You realize that our backup WR's had better numbers than all of our starters except for Swope right??? Oh and we also have 2 more speedy beasts coming in for sure that are 4 and 5 star guys and more than likely get Ricky Seals Jones ( currently number one recruit in the country at WR)
also our OL guys might not be leaving next year as both of them have "little" (lmao they are both huge also) brothers that are going to be playing next year and they have both said they would like to stay and play with them. And if they do decide to go their backups could have started at most schools... I think we will be fine. Might drop off a little, but don't get your hopes up too high... I seem to remember some of you same guys predicting how you would wipe the floor with us this year and we all know how that turned out...

Well, if it isn't our douchey Aggie friend that "never talks ****". Seems you have the same Eli Manning complex that some of our bear friends have. You know, the one where the incoming Freshman is as good if not better than the Junior or Senior stud he is replacing. Good luck with that.

ETA: Leave that "LMAO" **** at the Junior High girls cafeteria table before coming over next time. Thanks.
