I am glad he didn't come here in the first place considering Russellprobablywould not have come here. What would we do with him? Move him to deep snapper? Good luck to youCG at SELA, USM or Memphis.

I really think that he thought that he had no shot at pt.

Tyler Russell doesn't move too well. Rivers, who is our top QB target, doesn't move well either. The kid's got a cannon, I would love to have him.

Ask Jonah what happens when you question God.

Seriously, I don't have a problem with it. Our QB situation right now is Relf, Russell, and then Favre, and I'm not sure if Steagall is even a QB any more. One or two injuries, and we're in big time trouble. We would be down to a true freshmen in Favre, and if he gets hurt, maybe Bumphis?

Maybe he is a decent back-up to Russell. And if nothing else, he can provide some competition to Russell, and another body for us in case Tyler gets hurt in the future. Back-up QB's don't start, but I think they're pretty important because QB's get a hurt a pretty good bit. See Sleepy Robinson/Greg Plump. If he sucks, so what? Cut him. Then he goes to Delta State.

And yeah, this guy chose LSU over us, but he does come from a MSU family. And no, he's not a great runner, but Dan is smart enough to adapt the offense if we have to start him. He probably won't have to much since he won't play.

And let's not forget that Dan is a pretty good QB coach. He has done more with less before.

commit to state, so Garrett goes elsewhere, but in the end, ends back up at state as Russell knows he needs a good clipboard holder.

Incoming Favre transfer?

As you point out, zero mobility. His arm is average. Bumphis was the best QB on that team. He made Garrett look a lot better than he was.

because I don't see how anyone could call his arm average. Maybe by Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Mallettand Brett Favre standards his arm is average.

And if Bumphis made him look good, his coaching staff equalized that by making him look bad. I'm guessing you watched the South Panola/Tupelo game and yes that was the worst game of his career.

Having him on the depth chart is going to hurt us in trying to recruit the type of dual threat QB Mullen wants. Why try to fit a square peg in a round hole at the expense of signing a legit dual threat QB in the next two years?

Favre is on there, but he'll redshirt. Garrett has a year and I think a half under his belt. If Garrett wants to be back at MSU, he'll be here. The only thing that I see is him or his father showing their face again. That whole situation ended ugly and his dad was the Tupelo MSU Alumni director or something like that. He had to give that position up. I'm wondering if he would go to DSU or somewhere to save face. Maybe he knows that his son isn't the world-beater that he thought he was.

Neither one could play for us this year (except that Favre could in an emergency). And I'd take Favre in 2011 over Garrett in a heartbeat. I said from the start that Garrett would wind up at a Delta State and I stand by that prediction.

to anoverratedstick figure? In a 2011 or 2012 recruits mind it is just one more guy he has beat out when in reality Chris Garrett has no role in Mullen's offense.

but we struck out last year and this year it seems like Rivers, who isn't a dual threat, or no one.

Right now, I would just be happy with someone who can distribute the ball with accuracy. I'm not holding my breath though especially after the backlash the Garrett family receivedafter he choseLSU.

If he's not good enough fine...but we're simply not in the position to NOT give this kid a shot.

Relf can move "quite well"- Russell....not so much...average at best describes Russell- not "quite well"

we were his childhood team he rooted for and I can understand him wanting to come home and try to play here now that he sees he will never see the field in BR...but we dont have to give him a scholly. He can walk-on and run the scout team the next 2-3 years

Yeah, I know he can't run, but we are offering Stephen Rivers and he runs like a 4.8 40. He isn't exactly Vince Young. Rivers runs maybe a little faster than Garrett but they look about the same on film. I saw Garrett play in HS and he has no mobility, but I have seen Henig, Ty Evans, Tyson Lee, etc. I for one wouldn't mind having him on the roster.

I would say Relf moves very well given his numbers in limited PT last year, or he is very good at running the option. I say Russell moves quite well cause of the amount of football I have seen him play in high school and MSU football practice. I have seen TR run a good bit, I didnt just reading others opinion's online and then post them as my own thoughts

Russell couldn't beat out Tyson Lee for snaps last year. I see where you're going, but you're in the wrong lane. Leak was more talented than Russell and more ready to play early.

I still say he winds up in I-AA or II though. God wouldn't send him to a second SEC school where he couldn't break the top 3 in the depth chart.

Russell is in the SEC now and saying he runs "quite well" is wrong as you can be. I'll bet he has less than 150 yards rushing in 2010

When he goes into the game this year it will be to pass, not run but he can run quite well. Again, I know he can run quite well because I have seen it and am not just pulling my info second hand from wherever you get yours.

He ran for 30 yards all season on 77 carries. He also was replaced by Tebow alot in short yardage and goalline situations. Tebow led the Gay-tors in rushing TD's.

What saved Leak was Dallas Baker, Andre Caldwell, Percy Harvin, Cornelius Ingram, and all those other talented players he had around him.
