Why the Penn State job would be better five years from now

Mullen may go, who knows but the problem with PSU job is whoever takes it now will have to deal with a huge national microscope on any and all activity. Say an assistant coach gets a DUI or has any issue at all, there will be a huge public trial on any such instances. There will be calls for dismissal that the head coach will probably have to cave to. This year, we had Deonte Skinner have an issue with a girlfriend, if that happens up there, its the lead story on the Pittsburg news. Niot to mention the background checks the assistants will have to clear to get a job there, HC wont have any control over that.

Probably a great job in 2016. If he goes, he did us a good job, if he stays, Go Dawgs.</p>

Who knows if it will be in 5 years or even if it is whether Mullen would be a serious candidate. I have no idea what Mullen's going to do, but ifit's stillhis dreamjob after all that's happened and he's offered, he may not have much choice. I do know that if I were a coach MSU would be my dream job. But if everything that's happened at Penn St. had happened here, I'd be having some real serious second thoughts about that.

how much have you heard about it in the last 6 months ? 1 year from now Penn State`s problem will be a distant memory to most.

right now, it will dilute and eventually go away over a relatively short period of time. Or at least within the next year or two.

coming aside, the next coach is still following a legend. That job is/was going to be tough even without all of the Sandusky crap. Thats why I still think Mullen stays at MSU and leaps to PSU after the coach they hire this time gets canned. You never want to be the guy that follows the legend. You want to be the 2nd guy.

Yes, following a legend that will never, ever step foot in the football offices or attend a game. For a job following a legend, it doesn't get any easier than this. The good ol boy network won't have any say over assistants, no pulling strings for Paterno disciples, etc.

It's funny the MSU fans that can't take the maroon colored glasses and see that it's still a nice job, expect Dan not to wear his blue and white glasses when considering that job. It's like asking Bruiser, who doesn't follow recruiting, to not comment on every recruiting thread that pops up on this board.
