I guess I'm not understanding the reasoning that people are suggesting that AU bench Cam today. The only reason that I can think of is that they just want AU to admit the deal. But, what does AU have to loose by playing him at this point. What difference will one more win that gets vacated make? They've gone this far, why stop now? If I were them, I'd still be playing for the National Champ up until the hammer fell. Can you help me with the logic?

would warrant a harsher punishment from NCAA, assuming he's ineligible.

I would think Cecil's admission makes him ineligible, but we'll see how lax the NCAA is with them. I can see the media painting this "Poor Cam" picture now that Cecil said Cam and AU are innocent bystanders.

Quite simple:

NCAA possible violations. Georgia pulled Green for first part of season over Jersey and NCAA slapped a 4 game sit out.

CAM should sit and Auburn should hope for a 1 game sit out.

completely torpedoes the whole "Cam never knew" theory.<div>If it were only on tape.</div>

then a violation of NCAA rules has already occurred, rendering Cam Newton ineligible from that moment on. At least that is my understanding. Is there really a big difference in vacating 10 wins vs. vacating 12? The only reason I see sitting Newton is to hope and pray the NCAA gives him a 1 game slap and that you want to avoid a severe *** ripping for blatantly giving the NCAA the finger. And AJ Green's deal for ~$1000 pales in comparison of this case potentially involving $200k.

Assuming Cam plays, I want either Ga.or Bama to beat Auburn.
This will end the NC run, and take some pressure off of the situation.

A loss by Auburn, and they get thumped in the polls,
If Cam wins the Trophy,so be it.

the NCAA gets its rocks off hammering people and their organizations that do not "humble" themselves before the NCAA...

latest example: USC hiring a head coach who was an asst. coach during the time the events in question took place.

If it is found that AU knowingly played an ineligible player they will get smoked, especially if they that happens today going forward. And it could mean as much as 1 yr probation and 10 more skollies lost...

This is totally up to the NCAA. They could make Cam prove a negative, or they could day there's no evidence Cam knew and walk away.

The only evidence that makes Cam look guilty are e allegedphone conversations between Cam and two MSU recruiters. However, we know that evidence wasn't given to the SEC in January. We can also reasonably assume that it hasn't been given to the NCAA b/c if it had, Cam would have been sitting a long time ago. Given that, I think it's fair to assume, this evidence either doesn't exist or MSU has denied that it exists for it's own safety.

Unfortunately, it looks like cam and Auburn are going to weasel out of this. Most assuredly, Auburn is getting out of it which is who I wanted to see go down.

Seems to me that there is a snowball's chance in hell that the NCAA "walks away" on this.Just not the way they seem to operate.
