The Tennessee case had a TRO. The NCAA's appeal for a Stay was denied nearly two weeks ago. Today the court ruled a Stay. Now all those athletes revert back to being ineligible.

That's why Mitchell's case is completely up in the air. All it takes is one judge to grant a Stay and everyone in the Kentucky case is ineligible again. That's what the NCAA's plan is. Drag this out as long as possible and make players miss as many games as possible.

Don’t think he should be allowed to play because of what reason exactly?! Because the kid THOUGHT he was out of eligibility?! I mean, why in the world would he pull out of the draft, thinking he was out of college eligibility?! There was literally zero reason for him to pull out of the draft. Lmfao

Check the dates on when Mitchell was participating in summer league and when the 5 year ruling was announced. He didn't declare or pull out of the draft. He was a senior with,assumed, no eligibility left. That is my understanding. Also, why did he participate in the NBA summer league? ( He was trying to catch on with s team). I think he is a real good player but, I hope all players in this position are ruled ineligible.. I am just gradually losing my love of college basketball in general right now, especially UK Basketball. It has been chaos for a couple of years and I have zero confidence in the man in charge of the team. I have been a die hard fan my entire life but goofy stuff like the current ******** with Mitchell goes against reason. Hate all you want cowtown. Don't care.

Do redshirts still exist in the new 5-for-5? Could a guy like Mitchell ultimately win his eligibility in like March, and just decide he'd rather play a full season in '27-'28 as opposed to a handful of games at the end of this year?

That's not even the new one. The Stay in Tennessee is the new new one.

I think Mitchell and most other cases will win in the end. But the damn season might be over before they do.

A Stay just means the rules remain in place until the next court decision. Which means the NCAA can punish a school/player if the rules are broken. Even if the player ultimately wins in the end, you can't play him during any period while a Stay is in effect.

But with so many levels of the court system, the NCAA is going to keep appealing every loss and dragging this out. Basically every team should prepare for a season without their 5th year players, and then just be happy if they get to participate in any games. Which is a messed up way to approach a season as a fan. Not to mention, chemistry matters. I remember Kyrie Irving returning from injury late in a season and wrecking dook's chemistry for the tournament. There's no telling how adding a big time guy late in the year, after winning a court battle, will alter a team's chemistry.

The NCAA really is the worst.
