I know we dont like to redshirt guys, but I would love to see him redshirt. He's not gonna play this year ahead of Monk, Fox, and Briscoe and we would really need him next year. Makes perfect sense if you ask me.

I agree with this. He is probably the 5th guard, and likely to see < 100 minutes on the whole season. I think next year he could be the 7th or 8th guy, getting 5-15 mpg.

I'm right there with you, I hope Mulder is good enough to earn some clock.

I went back and looked, and this is crazy...Hawkins actually got more minutes on that loaded 2015 squad than Mulder got last year.

I knew he didn't play much, but I didn't realize he was buried that deep.

Matthews being gone could help Mulder too.

A season does a career not make . As a basketball player Mulder has been amazing from 3 he just was never in rhythm last year and who can blame him really . Hawkins has gotten better from 3 and I suspect he shoots around 30% this season but Mulder is closer to a 40% if he is in the flow of a game . Coming in for 1 minute and being yanked due to bad D allows no player to show his skills but then again you can't be out there is you can't guard a door if you play for Cal .

We have... 11-12 attempts in garbage time from Mulder? Lol. judging from him his elite JUCO shooting, the potential seems to be there. I wanna see if it translates in a larger sample.

idk....i mean he can play below average defense and i'm fine getting him minutes. we arent talking 20 per here. 5 minutes a half. if he can make a 3 or two...thats all we need. if he can be that efficient thats perfect.

It serves no purpose for him to play for 5 minutes a half and make a basket or two and then his defense cost us 10-15 points.

You guys are basing your assessment on what Mulder did in JUCO. We haven't seen anything to suggest Mulder is a better shooter than Hawkins since Mulder put on the UK jersey.

Once again, I hope Mulder plays and shoots it well, we will likely need it. I am just looking at what both have done in a UK jersey and have seen nothing thus far from Mulder to suggest he is better than Hawkins.

And wouldn't Cal play him, if he was better than Hawkins? If he was a deadeye shooter then wouldn't Cal find ways to get him in the game?

I hope it was just first year jitters and getting his feet wet and all that holding Mulder back last season. JUCO's rarely play well in their first year at high D-1 level, so I hold out hope for Mulder to break out this season.

But to say without a doubt that Mulder is a better shooter than Hawkins, there just is no empirical data (in D-1 play) to support that.

Dominique Hawkins was 11th in minutes with 163 minutes in 23 games played. If 7 minutes a game in a little over half the games played is "meaningful" minutes then I'll concede.

I think he will see some meaningful minutes, due to our lack of depth at the guard spots. After a year in Cal's system he could become a contributor. Hawkins cant really backup 3 guards by himself. I know Willis and Gabriel will play some 3 but still.

Compulsion is the only way to explain why so many people are discussing in October how much Mulder will play. Spear has it right. Mulder will play behind Fox, Monk, Briscoe, Hawkins. Does this surprise anyone?

Mulder only has to make shots and play D, to play any minutes this year. It's really in his hands especially if it does take some time for us to be a better shooting team later.

Potex Mulder is a terrific rebounder for his size. Like Cawood would broadcast , the Cats are running.

You have to be the worst poster I've ever seen. Hawkins is a damn good player and a good shooter. He hasn't been healthy enough to get in the flow much, but when he's on the court he produces.

Lets not begrudge a UK fan because he said a UK player was a good shooter, you got to remember someone probably said you were a good guy at one time. So let the complement go, everyone deserves one every once in awhile.
