I really hope so...atmosphere is going to be incredible. Every time the student section wants everyone to participate in some kind of color coordination, we the fans blow it. I for one think the stadium would look great if it was a blackout. GBR!

Why should the fans participate in something the students want when our school colors are red and white (scarlet and cream). Its fine if the students want to and its fine if some fans want to. Just don't expect it.

I would love to see it happen... I'll be there and I'll be in Black. Look at Penn St and their white outs... look at Iowa and their every other section black and gold.... if done correctly it looks awesome. Mind you we have a Red out every week, but wouldn't it be cool to really see the all black just for this game every year.

No. Not even all the students will participate. Unless the marketing department lays out 90,000 black shirts, it's just not going to happen.

I don't mind the concept in general, but I really dislike it when the visiting team is also a red team. It feels like we are willing to give up our red to them.

When Nebraska fans traveled to Madison, our fans were encouraged to wear black to "stand out". Fine. But when they come here, if they want to wear our red, go for it. We shouldn't give up our red.

Also side note: When Iowa wears black and gold, they are the team's colors. When Penn State does a white out, they are the school's colors.

I'm not a "blue hair" but I just don't understand why we want to wear a non-school color. If it's to show something "different" then just wear yellow, the color of corn.

I guess I looked at it as "Blackshirts".... this is a huge opportunity for our Defense to prove they are figuring this out and making strides. I realize that we are Scarlett and Cream but one of the biggest traditions in football (no matter what it's been like in recent years) is the blackshirt defense. I can see everyone's opinion on it but I just think it would be kind of cool to see Memorial Stadium in all black screaming their heads off when the D is on the field to give us that extra something we need to beat these guys.

I'm 63 and I will be in BLACK. The Blackshirts are a huge part of our school identity, I just wish they would figure out a way to get the school behind it and also publize it better. I agree, that very few know about it!

How about we try to get e whole stadium to wear red?
Blackouts always look ******, because there is no way to get everyone on the same page. Penn state? Iowa? They use school colors. Black is not a school color.
Good luck getting 90,000 fans to all wear black.
Instead our crowd will look splotchy and ******.
It's so stupid to try.
Why not have a red out? You know...no white or black? Every fan has a red shirt...not everyone has a black one.
We've tried this countless times. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Gonna be there and pulled out an old black "blackshirt" tee and a newer black hoodie with the skull and crossbones on the front. Back in Black!

Do a Red out for another game. Good idea.

But for this one do one for the team. Wear BLACK.

I'm not going to the game, but if I was, I would wear red. Why? For one thing, I don't currently own, never have owned, and never will own a single piece of Husker clothing that isn't at least predominately red. It's our color. Period. Seems so logical to me. Yeah, I get the whole blackshirt thing, and it's a great tradition-but I don't support one side of the ball over the other in my Husker clothing choices(and people wanting to wear black to the game has nothing to do with the Blackshirts anyway-connecting it with the Blackshirts is just a convenient coincidence, it's more about black looking "cool").
And why encourage people to wear a color that is different than one of our normal colors?(again, Blackshirts don't count-the actual black jerseys are only worn in practice). When other teams' fans wear a specific color to a game, it's one of their actual colors. That's part of the reason you won't get more than partial participation for us wearing black. I'm sure I'm not the only Husker fan that doesn't own any black Husker gear. A good number of people aren't going to know anything about it anyway-no matter how much it's spread around on social media. If the students really want to do it that bad, I think it would be much better if just they participated in it. Sure, you won't get 100% participation from them either, but at least they'll be a lot more likely to join in. It would look a lot better to have one section in black and the rest in red than the mishmash of red and black sprinkled around that you're going to see.

Save that blackout crap for Georgia. Set the trend, don't follow them.

Why can’t you pansies just participate and wear black? Throw the bones for Christ sakes. Black is for the blackshirts. It’s an alternate color. Kids love it.. it’s for the kids. It’s a game.. have fun with it.

Because it is a f#$@ing football game. Who gives a crap what the official school colors are. One of the unofficial colors is absolutely black due to the Blackshirts. Heaven forbid anyone have fun with with. Now sit down and stop yelling you're blocking my view.

Some of you really need to stop taking this stuff so seriously. Wearing black to one Nebraska game will impact your life how? My guess is it would have quite an impact on the defensive recruits.

Yep just turn over and hand out colors to the visitor. Stupid.

And the outcome of the game will be affected how exactly? Do you really believe that if we wear black to the game instead of red that Wisconsin gets to keep red and we lose the ability to ever wear red again? This isn’t a car race for pink slips. It’s a football game. Holy cow.

Wear BLACK to impress the recruits if nothing else.

5***** Micah Parsons and others will be at the game for official visits.

The Husker Defense will notice too.

You can't seem to grasp it...
There is no way to get 90000 fans in the same page, especially when color you want isn't owned by probably at least 20000 of them as a Nebraska shirt. Even if everyone reading this board wears black, there will still be at least 40% of the stadium who does not. It will look splotchy, just as it always has every time we have tried it. And I stand and scream when I go, so everyone can stop with the insults. I simply realize that this is an impossibility unless you hand out black, so who's going to pony up a half million dollars to hand them out to everyone??
Do I think the stadium would look cool in all black? YES.
Do I think it is possible to get it all black? NO
Do I think it looks ****** when it's splotchy? Yes and so does everyone else.
Try a red out. It will be much easier to accomplish.

They'll notice it if it's all red and loud. A blackout will never happen.
